KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Junior Buyer
- Under General Direction, is responsible for the procurement of an assigned group of commodities and services for Best Theratronics Ltd
- Is responsible for the management and control of purchased goods inventories to meet the specific needs of the assigned division
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Some post secondary education plus experience within a purchasing department
- Preference will be given to candidates with buying experience in an MRP production environment
- Inventory Control experience required
- Completion of PMAC sponsored “Production and Inventory Control and Principles of Transportation” would be an asset
- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills are essential
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the procurement of assigned commodities and/or services as required. Establishes and Cultivates long term supply agreements with critical vendors.
Assists with the development and Implementation of policies and procedures to ensure integrity of all Company expenditures.
WORK PERFORMED
1. For assigned commodities, analyses long term demands using the manufacturing control system and negotiates supply agreements with selected vendors.
Assigned commodities will focus on major non inventory purchases such as site services, contracts, leases,
travel services and on Class “A” inventory items.
1. For assigned vendors, resolves any problems encountered by all groups within the Company.
2. Responsible for inventory levels of assigned commodities, which will include both manufacturing and service components. Levels must be reduced to a minimum while ensuring a limited exposure to stockouts; this would adversely impact completion schedules or customer service.
3. Ensures timely delivery of high quality components to meet the production schedule through correct vendor selection and follow up.
4. Responsible for accurate and current information pertaining to lead times, purchase history and catalogues for assigned vendors.
5. Establishes standard cost data for assigned commodities and monitors purchase price variances.
6. Works in conjunction with other purchasing staff or line organization staff to review and to establish formal purchase agreements with major suppliers.
7. Serves as a resource for Medical Products Division and Manufacturing personnel in the activities relating to the sourcing of new products.
8. In areas of single sourcing agreements, ensures that viable secondary sources of supply are identified.
9. Maintains good vendor relationships by using good communication and by conducting business in an honest, fair and ethical manner according to the guidelines of P.M.A.C. and Company policies. ‘
JOB CHARACTERISITCS
1. Education and Experience
Normally, a secondary school graduation with a minimum of 10 years related business experience; at least five years must have been in a buying capacity. Incumbents will normally be enrolled in a recognized qualified career development program leading to a ‘Certified Professional Purchaser’ (CPP) designation. Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
