Junior Civil Structural Engineer

Hycroft is looking for a Junior Civil Structural Engineer who is ready to roll up their sleeves and learn the craft on real-world projects in mining, oil & gas, and industrial facilities. If you are a recent graduate with a curious mindset and a strong drive to grow, we want to hear from you.
About the Role
As a Junior Civil Structural Engineer at Hycroft, you will support senior engineers on the design and delivery of civil & structural engineering systems across a variety of industrial projects. You will work alongside designers, project managers, and clients, getting hands-on with everything from preliminary studies and drawings to detailed engineering and construction support.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Surrey, BC office, with the chance to visit project sites and see your designs come to life.
What You'll Do
- Support the preparation of civil & structural engineering design documents, drawings, specifications, and calculations under the direction of senior engineers
- Help develop scopes of work, equipment lists, and datasheets for engineering and construction phases
- Assist with the review of vendor drawings, technical bid evaluations, and design submissions
- Coordinate with designers and other disciplines to ensure drawings reflect engineering intent
- Participate in field visits, site walkdowns, and as-built verification
- Prepare meeting notes, RFIs, and project documentation
- Apply NBC, CSA S16, CSA A23.3, and applicable provincial codes, client standards, and Hycroft procedures to your work
- Communicate clearly with internal teams, clients, and vendors
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Structural Engineering or related discipline
- Eligibility to register as an EIT with EGBC (or equivalent Canadian provincial body)
- Authorized to work in Canada
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD.Pro or RISA, and structural analysis tools and Microsoft Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented with solid organizational and time-management skills
- A genuine interest in industrial design and a willingness to learn
Nice to Have
- Co-op, internship, or 1+ year of engineering consulting experience
- Exposure to structural steel and concrete design, foundations, seismic analysis, and earthworks
- Familiarity with industrial sectors (oil & gas, mining, process plants)
- Experience with Bluebeam, BigTime, or similar
