POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Junior Estimator, Electrical provides estimating and administrative support for electrical construction projects. This role assists with quantity take-offs, pricing, bid preparation, and tender reviews while working closely with estimators, suppliers, and project teams. The successful candidate will develop an understanding of electrical construction methods, estimating practices, and tendering processes while ensuring work is completed accurately and in accordance with company standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Review tender documents (instructions, RFQs, bonding, insurance, schedules) to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Analyze conceptual designs, project specifications, tender drawings, and related design documents.
- Identify design gaps and issue RFIs for ambiguous items in tender documents.
- Conduct pre-bid risk evaluations covering scope, benefits, competition, and cost factors.
- Create detailed take-offs, assign items, and organize quantities in estimating software.
- Calculate material costs, labor hours, job expenses, and required equipment.
- Set up tender-specific breakout pricing and determine submission format requirements.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for compliance; select and recommend suitable vendors.




- Prepare lead letters for scope clarification and qualifications.
- Manage time effectively to produce thorough and timely estimates.
- Present and explain estimates to clients, designers, and internal teams.
- Coordinate with stakeholders across departments and teams as needed.
- Maintain strong relationships with sub-trades, suppliers, manufacturers, and clients.
- The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the positions role within the business unit.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

- Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Construction Estimating, Electrical Estimating or a related field preferred. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered. A combination of training, education, and relevant work experience may be considered equivalent.
- A valid 309A Electrician Certificate of Qualification is considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to learn estimating principles, construction methods, and industry best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
- Experience with Bluebeam, Accubid, LiveCount, or other estimating software is considered an asset but not required.




- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Ability to interface with all levels of staff, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients in a professional manner.
- Solid administration and organizational skills.
- Demonstrates a willingness to learn and participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

TRAVEL:

- 0-20 % travel may be required for this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- On site conditions: Walking or on your feet for long periods of time, high levels of noise, weather and temperature can vary depending on season, mainly outdoors.

Pay: $50,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
