ABOUT US

Kainaiwa Children's Services Corporation is a growing, dynamic First Nations organization providing programs and services to Blood Tribe children and families in need of support and protection so that they can become positive, healthy contributing members of our community; while maintaining KCSC's Vision, Mission Statements and incorporating Blood Tribe Traditions through "Kainayssini" the Declaration of the Elders of the Blood Indian Nation.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under the direct supervision of the Placement Resource Supervisor of Blood Tribe Services Corporation, the Support for Permanency Worker is responsible for assessing, approving or disapproving, supporting, and monitoring adoptive applicants and adoptive placements. The primary client is the adoptable child. Secondary clients include the child's caregiver or adoptive parents, birth family, and the child's community and culture of origin.

The position supports permanency planning that promotes safety, stability, belonging, cultural connection, and the best interests of the child.

The Support for Permanency Worker reports directly to the Placement Resource Supervisor and works collaboratively with casework teams, placement resources, adoptive applicants, caregivers, birth families, community support, and cultural resources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Complete assessments, interviews, home studies, documentation, and recommendations related to adoptive applicants and permanency planning.

- Review and evaluate applicants to determine suitability for adoption and make recommendations for approval or disapproval in accordance with legislation,



policy, and agency procedures.

- Provide support, guidance, and education to adoptive applicants, caregivers, and adoptive parents throughout the permanency process.

- Ensure the child's cultural identity, family connections, community ties, and Blackfoot values are considered and supported in permanency planning.

- Work collaboratively with birth families, caregivers, service providers, and community and cultural supports to support the child's permanency plan.

- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case notes, reports, assessments, and related documentation.

- Follow the applicable legislation, related policies, First Nation Agreements, protocols, and Blood Tribe Services procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Should possess one of the following: Bachelor of Social Work degree; Bachelor of Arts degree in a related human services field; Social Work Diploma; Child and Youth Care Diploma; or an equivalent combination of additional education and related experience may be considered.

- Knowledge of the applicable child welfare legislation, First Nation Agreements and protocols.

- Excellent interviewing, assessment, analytical, communication, and report writing skills.





- Delegation training would be considered an asset.

- Proficient use of computers, Microsoft 365, email, databases, and related software.

- Understanding of the Blackfoot Language, culture, traditions, and community values would be an asset.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and manage sensitive information professionally.

- Ability to establish and maintain respectful working relationships with children, families, caregivers, staff, agencies, and community members.

- Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, and decision making skills.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a culturally respectful and child focused manner.

- Successful applicants must provide a current, explicit Criminal Record Check, Intervention Record Check, and a copy of a valid Driver's Licence, and may be required to travel as part of assigned duties.
