We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Kitchen Assistant/Chef to join our vibrant culinary team. In this role, you will play a vital part in assisting the main chef in preparing and serving high-quality food in a daycare environment. Your enthusiasm for food, excellent food handling skills, and commitment to safety will ensure our guests enjoy memorable dining experiences.
As you will be working in a childcare setting, the center will help you enroll and complete Early Childhood Education Level 1
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, mixing, and assembling ingredients to ensure timely meal service
- Assist in cooking dishes according to established recipes and quality standards, maintaining consistency and presentation excellence
- Serve food efficiently and courteously to children ensuring a positive experience
- Handle food safely by following proper hygiene practices, storage procedures, and sanitation guidelines
- Support kitchen operations by cleaning utensils, equipment, and workstations regularly
- Work with the main chef to manage inventory levels of ingredients and supplies,
notifying supervisors of shortages or replenishment needs
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen workflow during busy periods
Requirements
- Some experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments with knowledge of food handling and safety protocols
- Valuable skills in serving, meal preparation, cooking, and food industry standards
- Ability to perform food preparation tasks efficiently while maintaining high hygiene standards
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and basic cooking techniques
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A proactive attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional food service experiences
