Turn Your Kinesiology Degree Into a Career in Pedorthics

With 35 years of experience, Foster’s Shoes has become a trusted name in retail footwear, professional fitting, pedorthics, custom orthotics and footwear modification.

We are looking for a Kinesiologist or recent Kinesiology graduate who is interested in building a career as a Certified Pedorthist – C. Ped (C).

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of human movement, anatomy and biomechanics who wants to apply their education in a hands-on, patient-focused environment.

Foster’s Shoes will with you cover the cost of the required schooling, education and certification needed to become a Certified Pedorthist. You’ll have the opportunity to earn a full-time salary while developing your skills, gaining hands-on experience and working toward your professional designation.

You’ll learn alongside our experienced team, gaining practical experience that complements your formal pedorthic education.

Our custom orthotics are created on-site in our Orthotics Laboratory, allowing you to be involved in the entire process—from assessing a patient and recommending a treatment solution to fitting, modifying and adjusting the finished product.

What You’ll Learn & Do

Working alongside our pedorthic team, you will develop practical skills in:

- Conducting gait, biomechanical and lower-limb assessments
- Assessing foot structure, movement and footwear needs
- Understanding common causes of foot and lower-limb discomfort
- Learning how to cast, fit, dispense and adjust custom foot orthotics
- Developing hands-on orthotic fabrication and modification skills
- Performing footwear modifications in our on-site laboratory
- Providing professional footwear fittings based on individual patient needs
- Recommending footwear and pedorthic solutions
- Educating patients on footwear, orthotics and ongoing care

- Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
- Working collaboratively with healthcare professionals
- Providing an exceptional, patient-focused experience
- Assisting and educating our retail team on footwear, fit and foot health

What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about biomechanics, human movement and helping people
- Interested in pursuing a career as a Certified Pedorthist
- Comfortable working directly with patients and customers
- Hands-on and interested in learning orthotic fabrication and footwear modification
- A strong problem solver with excellent attention to detail
- Friendly, professional and an excellent communicator
- Eager to learn and continue developing professionally
- Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Customer-service or retail experience is considered an asset

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology or a related field
- New and recent graduates are encouraged to apply
- Commitment to completing the education and practical requirements necessary to become a Certified Pedorthist – C. Ped (C)
- Commitment to ongoing education and professional development

Foster’s Shoes will cover the cost of your required schooling and education to become a Certified Pedorthist, including applicable program, certification and education costs.

While completing your education, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside our pedorthic team and developing skills in:

- Biomechanics and gait assessment
