Applus+ QPS is seeking a Laboratory Technician I to join our Toronto laboratory team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work and is looking to build a career in product testing, engineering support, and laboratory operations.

In this entry-level role, you'll work alongside experienced laboratory professionals to conduct mechanical and electrical testing, collect and document results, maintain equipment, and support a safe and organized lab environment. We provide training, mentorship, and opportunities for growth as you develop your technical skills and gain exposure to a wide range of products and testing methods.

Reports To: Laboratory Manager

What You'll Do

As a Laboratory Technician I, you will:

- Set up and perform standard mechanical and electrical tests under the guidance of senior laboratory staff.
- Assist with more advanced testing activities and projects.
- Prepare samples according to established procedures and specifications.
- Document test results accurately and maintain required records.
- Learn to interpret test specifications and acceptance criteria.




- Support the repair, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks, test records, and technical reports.
- Help keep the laboratory clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
- Operate basic shop equipment and hand tools safely and effectively.
- Communicate professionally with customers and laboratory team members.
- Follow all safety procedures, quality requirements, and company policies.
- Report quality concerns or nonconformances as appropriate.
- Coordinate workload priorities and communicate testing progress and turnaround times.
- Cross-train in other areas of the organization as opportunities arise.
- Perform other related duties as needed.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

- Training, education, or experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with standard software applications.
- Experience using hand tools and basic shop equipment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

- Diploma, certificate, or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Hands-on experience working with mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience in a testing laboratory, manufacturing, technical, or product development environment.
- Experience preparing technical reports and managing test data.
- Familiarity with laboratory testing equipment and procedures.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to inspect samples, equipment, and test results,



with or without corrective lenses.
- Ability to operate laboratory equipment and tools safely.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, specifications, and computer screens.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry test samples, fixtures, and equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
