We're looking for a Landscape Designer with BCIN qualifications who understands that great landscape design doesn't stop once the drawing is finished.
This is a hybrid design + field operations position for someone who understands plants, construction, permitting, and design software and wants to see their projects actually get built.
You'll work closely with our sales and construction teams to create better designs, better construction packages, smoother permits, and fewer problems in the field.
ResponsibilitiesLandscape Design
- Develop complete residential landscape designs
- Prepare professional 2D construction drawings
- Create 3D concepts and presentations
- Produce planting plans with proper plant selection, spacing, and quantities
- Prepare grading, hardscape, pool, and construction details
- Complete site measurements and field verification
- Create material takeoffs and assist with estimating
- Revise designs based on client and field feedback
Software Strong experience with skilled landscape/design software is required. Experience with programs such as:
- AutoCAD
- Dynascape
- SketchUp
- Lumion or similar rendering software
- Adobe / presentation software
- Google Workspace / Microsoft Office
BCIN & Permitting
- BCIN qualification required
- Prepare permit-ready drawings
- Prepare and submit residential pool permit applications
- Coordinate permit requirements with municipalities
- Respond to municipal comments and revise drawings when required
- Understand setbacks, grading requirements, zoning considerations, and applicable residential construction requirements
Plant Knowledge We're looking for someone with genuine horticultural knowledge who can:
- Identify common Ontario plant material
- Select plants based on exposure, soil, mature size,
and design intent
- Develop proper planting plans
- Understand seasonal interest and plant combinations
- Help crews properly interpret planting plans in the field
Field & Operations This is not a desk-only design position.
During our construction season, you'll spend time in the field helping projects run better. That can include:
- Site measurements
- Layouts
- Checking elevations and design intent
- Reviewing plans with Foremen
- Solving design conflicts before they become expensive mistakes
- Coordinating materials and selections
- Assisting with project planning and mobilization
- Supporting production wherever your skill set can add value
You'll also remain operationally involved during the winter season, supporting company operations while continuing design, permitting, estimating, and planning for upcoming projects.
What We're Looking For
- BCIN qualified
- Landscape design education or equivalent professional experience
- Strong landscape design software capabilities
- Strong plant and horticultural knowledge
- Experience preparing and submitting pool permits
- Understanding of grading, drainage, elevations, and landscape construction
- Comfortable visiting and working on active construction sites
- Valid driver's licence
- Organized, accountable, and able to manage multiple projects
- Someone who wants to understand how their designs actually get built
