Our mission is to celebrate the rich coffee traditions of West Africa, the Caribbean, and beyond through innovative, bold, and flavorful beverages. We’re looking for a Lead Barista who is not only passionate about coffee but also excited to share the stories and heritage behind each cup.

Key Responsibilities:

- Craft and serve high-quality coffee drinks, with a focus on traditional coffee cultures from Africa, the Caribbean, and the East.
- Lead the research and development of new, culturally inspired beverages that reflect Yaya’s Kitchen’s unique vision.
- Train, mentor, and support junior baristas, fostering a warm and welcoming team workplace.
- Engage with customers to share the stories behind our unique coffee offerings and build connections through hospitality.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient coffee station, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
- Manage inventory, restock supplies,



and maintain coffee equipment in top condition.
- Uphold high standards of customer service, including fulfilling guest requests and upselling unique offerings.

YOU BRING WITH YOU:

- Experience: At least 2 years as a café barista, with experience leading and developing a team.
- Customer Focus: Proven experience in fulfilling guest requests and upselling products.
- Certification: Ontario Food Handler Certificate.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise and mentor junior team members, maintaining a positive and professional environment.
- Passion for Coffee: A genuine love for exploring and sharing coffee traditions from around the world.
- Flexibility: Ability to work during café operating hours:
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Thursday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Monday: Closed

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent Pay: $17.50-$19.50 per hour
