LEWICON – Working Site Supervisor / Lead Carpenter

Location: Winnipeg & surrounding Manitoba / Travel as required

Employment: Part-Time to Start, with Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time

Industry: General Contracting / Commercial / Institutional / Government / Residential Construction

About the Position

LEWICON is seeking an experienced Working Site Supervisor / Lead Carpenter to join our growing construction team.

This is a hybrid hands-on and supervisory position for an experienced tradesperson who is equally comfortable performing skilled carpentry work and taking responsibility for the coordination and supervision of an active construction site.

The position will begin part-time/project-based, with the opportunity for increased hours and a full time position as our project workload continues to grow.

Depending on the project, you may spend your day working alongside the crew performing carpentry and construction work, while on other projects you may be responsible for running the site, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining safety and quality standards, and communicating with Project Management and the client.

We are looking for someone who can be trusted to step into a supervisory role and take ownership of a jobsite when required.

Key Responsibilities

- Wood framing and general carpentry
- Window and exterior/interior door installation
- Drywall installation and repairs
- Flooring installation
- Interior finishing, trim and millwork
- Demolition, renovations and general construction
- Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings
- Supervise employees, subcontractors and daily site activities
- Coordinate construction sequencing,

materials and deliveries
- Monitor workmanship and perform quality-control inspections
- Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective work
- Maintain an organized, professional and safe jobsite
- Conduct toolbox meetings and hazard assessments as required
- Maintain basic site documentation, progress photographs and daily updates
- Communicate with LEWICON Project Management regarding progress, issues and upcoming requirements
- Professionally represent LEWICON when dealing with clients, consultants, inspectors and government/institutional representatives

Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on construction/carpentry experience preferred
- Strong framing and general carpentry abilities
- Experience with windows, doors, drywall, flooring and interior finishing
- Previous experience as a Lead Hand, Foreman, Site Supervisor or Superintendent is a strong asset
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- Good understanding of construction sequencing and trade coordination
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Ability to organize workers and subcontractors without constant direction
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver's licence
- Ability and willingness to travel for out-of-town projects when required

- Red Seal Carpenter certification is an asset but not mandatory where equivalent experience can be demonstrated
- Existing safety training is strongly preferred, including First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, Fall Protection/Fall Arrest, Aerial Work Platform (AWP/EWP), supervisory safety training and other applicable construction safety certifications.

Who We're Looking For We're specifically looking for someone who can do both sides of construction.

We don't need a supervisor who doesn't want to touch tools, and we don't need someone who can perform excellent carpentry but isn't comfortable taking responsibility for a site.

We want an experienced tradesperson who can come to site and work alongside the crew when that's what's needed — and step up and run the site when that's what's needed.

The right candidate should be dependable, professional and comfortable working in environments where safety, documentation, quality control and client interaction are important, particularly on commercial, institutional and government projects.

Opportunity

This position will begin part-time, making it suitable for an experienced tradesperson looking for additional work or an opportunity to gradually transition into a larger role.

For the right individual, there is opportunity for increased hours and advancement into a full-time Working Superintendent / Site Superintendent position as LEWICON continues to grow.

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour

Benefits

- Dental care
- Extended health care

Work Location: In person
