Overview
Reporting to the Community Manager, the Life, Learning and Leisure (LLL) Facilitator supports the holistic well-being of residents in alignment with the 6 Dimensions of Wellness: physical, intellectual, emotional, occupational, spiritual, and social. This role requires a dynamic, resident-focused professional with a demonstrated ability to design and deliver innovative and engaging programs. The LLL Facilitator is responsible for both creating and leading programs, as well as coaching and supporting staff, residents, volunteers, and external partners to deliver meaningful experiences onsite and offsite.
The ideal candidate brings a collaborative spirit, creativity, and a commitment to incorporating emerging best practices that enhance quality of life for seniors.
Responsibilities
- Represent and promote Silvera’s Life, Learning and Leisure philosophy both within the organization and in the broader community.
- Design, facilitate, and adapt innovative programs that align with the six Dimensions of Wellness, incorporating inspiring practices and resident interests.
- Actively promote and encourage resident participation in Life, Learning and Leisure (LLL) programs, both group-based and individual; engage regularly with residents to gather input and build meaningful connections.
- Coach and support Silvera employees, residents, and volunteers to lead and participate in programs and events.
- Collaborate with external facilitators and service providers to ensure consistent, high-quality program delivery.
- Coordinate logistics for programs and events, including physical space, materials, and program leaders.
- Plan, organize, and promote engaging onsite and offsite experiences that enhance resident well-being.
- Support recent residents in becoming familiar with and involved in Life, Learning and Leisure opportunities.
- Monitor resident participation and engagement; provide regular observations and recommendations to inform program enhancement.
- Collect and share both quantitative and qualitative data on program participation, facilitator effectiveness, and volunteer contributions; provide quarterly reports to support continuous improvement.
- Lead monthly resident meetings focused on learning and leisure programs, events, and initiatives; gather and act on resident feedback.
- Ensure all program-related equipment and supplies are properly maintained, cleaned, and safely stored.
- Manage program budgets responsibly, including tracking expenditures, sourcing cost-effective materials, and ensuring alignment with organizational financial guidelines.
Qualifications
- Demonstrates passion for and experience working with older adults.
- Post-secondary education or training in recreation/leisure/gerontology is preferred; a combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Experience in designing, adapting, and delivering programs.
- Demonstrates creativity, innovation, enthusiasm, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to grow, learn, challenge and be challenged within a learning workplace.
- Strong organizational skills and communications skills - both oral and written.
- Previous experience in coaching, coordinating, and supporting volunteers is an asset.
- Strong customer service orientation with demonstrated oral, written and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically with Word, Excel and Outlook), Canvas & Sharepoint.
- Must have WHMIS, First Aid, Food Safety and Pro-serve, or willingness to obtain.

Work Conditions
- Must have valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle, as occasional travel is required.
- Work within different environments, both within a primary location as well as alternate locations.
- Be versatile and able to respond to a variety of changing duties and work routines, on occasion work under somewhat stressful situations.
- Scheduled hours will include a variety of day shifts from Monday through Friday, with availability to flex into evening and/or weekend shifts to meet program demands.
A personal cell phone is required to perform the duties of this position.
