The Logistics Coordinator will support East Coast Wild Blueberry’s Logistics and Sales team with domestic and international shipments, inventory management, customer orders, product samples, and day-to-day shipping documentation.
Based at our processing facility in Glenholme, Nova Scotia, this is a full-time, in-person position for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple shipments, deadlines, customers, carriers, and documentation at the same time.
A minimum of two years of logistics, shipping, or supply chain experience is required, including experience with international shipping. Experience in food processing, food manufacturing, agriculture, cold storage, or temperature-controlled transportation would be considered a strong asset.
Due to the nature of our business, flexibility in working hours is key. While the position will generally follow regular business hours, overtime, early or later hours, and occasional weekend work may be required depending on production schedules, shipping deadlines, customer needs, peak seasonal periods, and communication with international customers and partners in different time zones.
Responsibilities
Working closely with our Logistics and Sales team, responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating domestic and international customer shipments
- Booking and scheduling freight with carriers, freight forwarders, and other transportation providers
- Coordinating ocean containers, trucks, pickups, and delivery appointments
- Preparing and reviewing shipping and export documentation
- Working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, customers, and other external partners
- Monitoring shipments and following up on delays, scheduling changes, and transportation issues
- Ensuring shipping documentation is complete and accurate
- Maintaining organized electronic shipment records and supporting documentation
- Communicating shipment requirements and schedules with Production, Quality, Sales, Warehouse, and other departments
- Coordinating shipment timing based on product availability and production schedules
- Assisting with inventory management and maintaining accurate inventory records
- Monitoring product inventory and helping keep inventory information current
- Working with Production, Warehouse, and Sales to confirm product availability for upcoming orders and shipments
- Assisting with inventory counts and investigating discrepancies when required
- Coordinating and preparing product samples for shipment within Canada and internationally
- Preparing required documentation for domestic and international sample shipments
- Providing customers with shipping information and required documentation
- Assisting with customer orders and other sales and logistics administration
- Preparing and reviewing commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, Certificates of Analysis, and other required shipment documentation
- Assisting with freight, customs, documentation, delivery, and customer issues as they arise
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date logistics, shipping, and inventory records
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, supply chain, or a related role
- International shipping experience required
- Experience working with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and customers
- Experience preparing and reviewing shipping and export documentation
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, and changing priorities
- Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with other departments
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada
Experience in the following areas would be considered an asset:
- Food processing or food manufacturing logistics
- Agriculture, cold storage, or temperature-controlled transportation
- Ocean freight and container shipments
- Canada-U.S. cross-border shipments
- Inventory management or inventory tracking
Technical / Job-Specific Knowledge Candidates should be comfortable working with:
- International freight and shipping procedures
- Commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and other shipping documentation
- Export and customs documentation
- Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Inventory, order-management, or logistics software
Working Conditions
- Full-time, in-person position
- Primarily office-based
- Regular communication and coordination with employees throughout our production and warehouse operation
- Fast-paced environment with changing shipping schedules, customer requirements, and deadlines
- Flexibility in working hours is required
- Overtime may be required
- Early or later hours may be required depending on shipping or production needs
- Weekend work may be required, particularly during peak production periods
- Must be able to accommodate communication and shipping needs across different international time zones when required
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $60,000–$70,000 per year
