Responsibilities

- Engage with customers both inside the store and through outside sales efforts to understand their building needs and recommend suitable products.
- Conduct product demonstrations, including showcasing features of lumber, hardware, and other building materials to enhance customer understanding and satisfaction.
- Utilize POS (Point of Sale) systems for accurate cash handling, order processing, and inventory management.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and product options to secure high-end sales and upsell complementary items effectively.
- Manage account relationships through proactive communication, ensuring repeat business and customer loyalty.
- Support merchandising efforts by organizing displays, maintaining stock levels, and implementing marketing strategies to attract customers.
- Provide inside sales support by processing orders via POS systems, managing customer inquiries,



and coordinating deliveries.
- Offer exceptional customer service by addressing questions promptly, resolving issues efficiently, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Stay informed about new products, industry trends, and renovation techniques to provide expert advice on construction projects.

Experience

- Minimum of 4 years sales experience within the building materials or construction industry is required.
- Strong background in retail sales or customer service roles involving lumber or hardware products.
- Familiarity with SketchUp or CAD software for project visualization is advantageous.
- Demonstrated negotiation skills with a focus on high-end sales and upselling techniques.
- Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic math for accurate transactions.
- Construction experience or familiarity with renovation processes enhances ability to advise customers effectively.
- Multilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse client bases effectively.
- Excellent communication skills combined with organizational abilities to manage multiple accounts and merchandising tasks efficiently.
