OnX Canada is working with a major financial institution seeking a M365 Copilot Engineer for an initial 6-month contract.
This is a fully remote opportunity, however candidate must reside within Canada.
The M365 Copilot Engineer is responsible for the implementation, governance, operational support, and continuous enhancement of Microsoft 365 Copilot and associated AI-powered services across the organization. This role plays a critical part in enabling the secure and responsible adoption of enterprise AI capabilities while ensuring compliance with regulatory, privacy, security, and risk management requirements.
As Microsoft's AI ecosystem rapidly evolves, the successful candidate will evaluate newly released AI capabilities, oversee platform readiness, govern AI agents and connectors, and ensure the organization can quickly realize business value from emerging technologies. This role requires strong technical expertise across Microsoft 365, Copilot, Power Platform, security, compliance, and AI governance, along with the ability to collaborate across engineering, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, and business teams.
The M365 Copilot Engineer will support the organization's AI strategy by delivering scalable, secure, auditable, and operationally sound AI solutions that enable innovation while protecting enterprise data and maintaining governance standards.
Key Responsibilities
M365 Copilot Platform Management
- Configure, deploy, and manage Microsoft 365 Copilot and related AI services across the enterprise.
- Evaluate recent Copilot features, capabilities, integrations, and enhancements released by Microsoft.
- Assess platform readiness and coordinate implementation of approved AI capabilities.
- Develop and maintain operational standards, procedures, and support models for Copilot services.
- Monitor platform health, adoption, usage trends, and performance metrics.
AI Governance & Risk Management
- Support the development and enforcement of AI governance standards, policies, and controls.
- Review and assess newly introduced Microsoft AI capabilities to identify security, compliance, privacy, and operational risks.
- Ensure AI solutions comply with enterprise governance requirements and regulatory obligations.
- Participate in risk assessments, control reviews, and governance approval processes.
- Maintain documentation and evidence to support audit, compliance, and regulatory reviews.
Security & Compliance
- Partner with Cybersecurity and Information Security teams to ensure secure deployment and operation of Copilot and AI services.
- Implement and manage controls related to data access, information protection, identity management, and AI-enabled integrations.
- Evaluate security implications of AI Agents, Connectors, Plugins, Workflows, and other Copilot extensibility features.
- Monitor emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and risks associated with enterprise AI platforms.
- Support incident response and remediation activities related to AI services.
AI Agents, Connectors & Extensibility
- Govern the onboarding, management, and lifecycle of Copilot Agents, connectors, plugins, and integrations.
- Assess business use cases and technical requirements for AI-enabled automation and workflow solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to establish appropriate controls and governance for AI-powered solutions.
- Ensure third-party integrations align with security, privacy, and compliance standards.
Operations & Support
- Provide Level 3 support and technical expertise for Microsoft 365 Copilot services.
- Troubleshoot complex platform, access, integration, and service-related issues.
- Coordinate production deployments, platform updates, and change management activities.
- Maintain operational runbooks, knowledge articles, and support documentation.
- Participate in service improvement initiatives and platform optimization efforts.
Stakeholder Engagement & Enablement
- Partner with Technology, Risk, Compliance, Privacy, Legal, and Business teams to support AI adoption initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance on responsible AI implementation.
- Support user enablement, awareness, and adoption programs.
- Communicate platform changes, risks, and opportunities to key stakeholders.
Required Experience
- 3-7 years of experience supporting Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, or enterprise collaboration technologies.
- Experience administering or implementing Microsoft 365 services, including Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, and Entra ID.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, or AI-enabled Microsoft technologies.
- Strong understanding of enterprise security, identity, compliance, and data protection controls.
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale SaaS or cloud services.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in AI governance, risk management, compliance, or cybersecurity.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Purview, Information Protection, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and insider risk management.
- Experience with Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio, and enterprise workflow automation.
- Familiarity with Responsible AI principles and AI risk frameworks.
- Experience within a regulated industry, preferably financial services.
