Job Summary The Handy Person is responsible for completing general maintenance, repairs, upkeep, and preventative maintenance throughout DoubleTree by Hilton North Vancouver. This position supports the Engineering team in maintaining guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house areas, exterior spaces, and hotel equipment in a safe, clean, and well-maintained condition.

The ideal candidate is a practical, hands-on individual who takes pride in their work, has strong attention to detail, and can identify and resolve routine maintenance issues efficiently. The Hotel Handyman works closely with the Chief Engineer and other hotel departments to ensure a safe, comfortable, and positive experience for guests and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform general repairs and maintenance throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, meeting spaces, and back-of-house areas.
- Complete basic carpentry, drywall, painting, caulking, plumbing, furniture, door, fixture, and hardware repairs.
- Perform preventative maintenance and respond to maintenance work orders.
- Assist with upkeep, cleanliness, and basic maintenance of the hotel pool and surrounding areas, including checking and reporting equipment or facility issues.
- Maintain exterior areas, entrances, walkways, and hotel grounds as required.
- Assist the Chief Engineer with maintenance projects, installations, inspections, and contractor support.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Engineering workspace.




- Follow all hotel safety procedures and promptly report hazards or major maintenance issues.
- Provide professional and courteous service when working in guest areas or responding to guest requests.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in hotel, building maintenance, handyman, construction, or a related field preferred.
- Practical knowledge of general repairs and maintenance.
- Comfortable using common hand and power tools.
- Basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, and mechanical skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Pool maintenance experience is an asset.

Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies, work on ladders, bend, kneel, reach, and perform physical maintenance tasks indoors and outdoors.
