Lavern Heideman & Sons Limited is seeking a full-time, permanent Maintenance Lead for its sawmill and planing mill operation in Eganville, Ontario. The role is primarily hands-on industrial maintenance and repair, while also providing daily direction to maintenance staff and coordinating work through the MaintainX CMMS.

Location: 2057 Foymount Road, Eganville, Ontario K0J 1T0

Wage: $37.00 per hour

Hours: 40 paid hours per week

Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 1:30 p.m. to midnight, with a 30-minute unpaid meal break

Main responsibilities

- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain sawmill and planing mill machinery and related industrial equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and PLC/controls.
- Perform routine, preventive and emergency maintenance on industrial machinery, yard machines, loaders and other heavy rolling equipment.
- Perform basic electrical diagnostics within the authorized scope of the position and coordinate with a licensed electrician for work beyond that scope.
- Perform welding and mechanical repair work as required for equipment maintenance.
- Organize, delegate and monitor maintenance work orders in the MaintainX computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) from submission through completion.
- Prioritize urgent breakdowns and routine maintenance work to minimize production downtime and maintain facility efficiency.
- Track and optimize preventive maintenance schedules and work with the Maintenance Planner to ensure completed work orders accurately record labour, parts used and work performed.
- Provide daily direction, scheduling and task assignments to maintenance staff based on operational needs and individual capabilities.




- Mentor and train maintenance staff on mechanical standards, secure work practices and company procedures.
- Enforce safety requirements, including lockout/tagout, working-at-heights and emergency-response procedures; conduct and document safety meetings and training as required.

Qualifications

- College or technical diploma.
- At least 5 years of industrial or factory maintenance experience.
- At least 5 years of team management or leadership experience.
- Strong troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, PLC/controls, basic electrical diagnosis, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics and CMMS skills.
- Welding and millwright certification and/or relevant millwright experience preferred.
- Valid Ontario G driver's licence.
- Ability to complete or maintain required safety training, including WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR and lockout/tagout.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of industrial maintenance work and to work safely in a noisy industrial environment, at heights and with required PPE.

Additional information

Occasional overtime may be required, particularly during scheduled summer and fall maintenance shutdown periods. Overtime will be handled in accordance with applicable law and company policy.
