Position: Restaurant Cook (NOC 63200)
Employer: Sunshine Restaurant and Bakeshop
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 30 hours per week
Hourly Rate: CAD 20.00 – CAD 25.00
Work Location: 35601 North Klondike Highway, Carmacks, Yukon Territory, Y0B1C0, Canada
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes in accordance with standardized recipes, customer specifications, and quality standards.
- Plan and organize daily food preparation activities to ensure timely and efficient meal service.
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, measuring, and portioning food items prior to cooking.
- Inspect kitchen and food preparation areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Monitor the quality, freshness, and proper storage of food ingredients to minimize waste and maintain product quality.
- Maintain inventory of food, supplies, and kitchen equipment, and notify management of stock shortages or replenishment requirements.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely, ensuring all equipment is clean and in good working condition.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, workstations, and food preparation areas in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented according to restaurant standards for taste, quality, and appearance.
- Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is prepared safely and consistently.
- Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing food deliveries to ensure products meet quality standards and are stored appropriately.
- Follow established food handling, sanitation, and occupational health and safety procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Assist in managing daily kitchen operations by coordinating food preparation activities and ensuring effective workflow during service periods.
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff and front‑of‑house personnel to ensure accurate and timely order preparation and customer satisfaction.
- Assist in reducing food waste by properly utilizing ingredients and maintaining portion control.
- Perform other related kitchen duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the restaurant.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education Level: Secondary school completion or equivalent experience
- Work Experience: 1–2 years of experience as a cook in a restaurant, café, hotel, or similar establishment
- Certifications: Food Safe Level 1 or equivalent Food Handler Certificate is an asset
- Language Requirements: English
