Working in partnership with a major provider in the realm of adult online professional education, Lumina Datamatics is seeking Canadian Management Instructors to assist us with course development. SMEs with teaching and curriculum development experience are encouraged to apply.
Day-to-Day Tasks:
This candidate will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating an online course on becoming a management professional. This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of frontline management, emphasizing people leadership, communication, performance management, coaching, decision-making, and team development. Learners develop practical management skills through real-world scenarios and applied activities while building a foundation in strategic planning, organizational effectiveness, change management, and essential supervisory responsibilities.
Additionally, you will assess the course for it's relevance and alignment with Canadian market needs, including current best practice, educational requirements, and adherence to Canadian certification and licensure requirements. A detailed understanding of this topic from a Canadian perspective will be important. Your primary tasks will include analyzing course content, structure, textbook, certifications, and digital engagement strategies, identifying areas where alignment with Canadian standards and recommended adjustments is required, including an assessment of the breadth and scope of revisions needed to the course.
You will collaborate with other stakeholders to prepare a course analysis report that outlines recommendations for remediation, and help ensure that all recommendations are well aligned with the discipline.
Credentials:
Education/Certification:
Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Human Resources,
Organizational Leadership, or a related discipline.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive management experience, including leading teams, supervising managers, and developing frontline leaders within Canadian organizations.
- Demonstrated expertise in leadership development, coaching, employee engagement, performance management, strategic planning, organizational change, and workplace communication.
- Strong understanding of Canadian workplace legislation, employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, accessibility, privacy, and inclusive leadership practices.
- Experience teaching management, leadership, or supervisory development in post-secondary, continuing education, or corporate learning environments.
- Experience developing online or classroom-based management curriculum, assessments, case studies, and practical learning activities in collaboration with instructional designers.
- Professional certifications such as CPHR, PMP, leadership coaching, or change management are considered solid assets.
Analytical and Communication Skills:
- Ability to analyze and assess online courses for pedagogical effectiveness, relevance, and currentness.
- Strong written communication skills for preparing a detailed analysis report with clear recommendations.
- Experience collaborating with instructional designers to produce learner-centered educational materials.
Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning tools (e.g., Moodle, Brightspace, Blackboard, Canvas) preferred.
Consulting or Advisory Experience (Preferred):
- Experience providing expert recommendations to educational institutions, government bodies, or corporate learning teams.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a consulting capacity.

Hours per week:
We estimate 15-20 flexible hours of time per week will be needed.
Compensation specs:
We are able to offer an hourly rate of $75 CAD.
