What You Will Do The Manager leads and manages a department/program/unit to provide effective and efficient delivery of services relevant to their functional area. The Manager is responsible for ensuring the standards, objectives and goals of the department are met.
The Manager will oversee day-to-day departmental operations, including budgeting, and business objectives. In addition, the Manager will work with their team to maintain and improve the delivery of services applicable to their functional area, and the overall stakeholder experience. They develop workflow operations, new standards of practice/service for the department or program, ensure the quality of services, and work with their leadership team to improve operations.
This role leads a team and is accountable for the management of workload assignments, performance evaluation, career management, employee support, and engagement.
The Manager is responsible for applying learning and accountability consistent with a just culture, providing staff with written instruction on safety precautions where appropriate, ensuring that staff adhere to standards of safe work and patient care where applicable, and closing the loop on staff and patient safety issues to ensure continuous improvement.
What You Will Bring
- Baccalaureate Degree in a regulated Health Profession, Health Administration or a related field;
- Minimum of 5 years of healthcare experience in diverse positions in an acute care hospital setting;
- Three years in healthcare leadership;
- Strong leadership skills to support and provide direction to staff in a highly stressful and rapidly changing environment;
- Proven ability in working effectively with all members of health care team;
- Excellent oral/written communication skills;
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, conflict resolution and decision making skills;
- Knowledge of statistics and ability to analyze fiscal patient care data;
- Knowledge of Hospital policies and procedures, relative legislation, collective agreements.
Canadian Hospital Association
Standards, College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice, nursing theories and a research based professional role.
- Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient care;
- Knowledge of budgeting process;
- Knowledge of computers;
- Ability to maintain a high level of concentration in a busy working environment.
You will stand out with:
- Master's Degree in a Management, Nursing or Administration related program;
- Proficiency in English and French oral expression (level 4-advanced level) and comprehension (level 4-advanced level).
