Reporting to the Director of Corrections, the Manager, Health Services is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the delivery of health services across Nunavut’s correctional facilities. The position ensures that all care provided to clients aligns with applicable legislation, territorial policies, skilled health standards, and Inuit societal values. Working collaboratively with internal staff and external health partners, the Manager ensures that safe, consistent, and client-centered health services are accessible to all individuals in custody.

Department of Justice The Department of Justice (JUS) plays a vital role in promoting and protecting peaceful, secure and resilient communities by administering a justice system grounded in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit. Public safety and crime prevention are key focuses for the department, which manages correctional facilities and oversees policing services through an agreement with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Through community-based programming and restorative justice principles, the department also provides culturally relevant alternatives to the formal justice system and supports victims of crime.

The department helps shape Nunavut’s future by drafting territorial laws, providing legal services to the Government of Nunavut and supporting the administration of Nunavut’s Courts. The Department of Justice is committed to ensuring that all Nunavummiut have access to justice and live in safe, healthy communities.
