Our Children & Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) Program focuses onenhancing life skills, social skills and emotional regulation by facilitatingactivities that foster these abilities in a natural and fun way. The CYSNWorker will work with individuals and groups to build and enhancethese skills.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and implements short-term,issue-specific intervention plans within program guidelines in consultationwith the supervisor.
- Plan, prepare and facilitate group and/orindividual sessions using techniques such as active listening, conflictresolution, basic group counselling methods to help resolve identifiedproblems, needs and risks.
- Provide skill building in areas such as lifeskills, anger management or self-management techniques.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of client plans,reports on clients’ progress, and discusses related concerns with supervisor inorder to resolve identified issues and move towards defined objectives.
- Outline services provided by the program and/ororganization. Provides information on and referral to other community serviceproviders, resources and professionals as required.
- Maintain related records and statistics andprovides reports to the supervisor as required.
- Liaise with and/or promotes the interests ofclients with other community service providers, professionals and schoolpersonnel as required. Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments asrequired.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience
- Two-year diploma in a related human/socialservice field.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience workingwith youth experiencing developmental disabilities, mental health, substanceuse, and/or concurrent disorder challenges in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Experience in Trauma-Informed Practice, HarmReduction, and Recovery-Oriented Care.
Additional Requirements
- Criminal Record Check is required.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid and unrestricted Class 5 BC Driver’sLicense with access to a secure and reliable vehicle.
- Clear Driver’s Abstract (provided annually).
- Position requires Union Membership.
Shift/Schedule/Hours per week:
Regular PT – 28 hours per week withflexible daytime hours Monday through Wednesday. Thursday and Friday shiftswill include evening hours until 7:30 pm to support group programming.
Wage/Salary:
starting at $29.22/hour
