Marketing Manager

Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre is entering an exciting period of growth as we transition from seasonal operations to year‑round programming with the development of a new indoor tennis facility. We are looking for a creative, organized, and motivated Marketing Manager ? Project Intern to help lead our marketing initiatives, strengthen community engagement, support fundraising and sponsorship efforts, and promote the Centre’s programs, events, and expansion.

This one-year internship is supported by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) and offers hands‑on experience in sports marketing, digital communications, event planning, fundraising, sponsorship development, and community recreation.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement marketing initiatives supporting the Centre and its expansion

- Manage and grow social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn

- Create digital content including graphics, videos, newsletters, and promotional campaigns

- Maintain website content and promotional materials

- Track social media and marketing performance and engagement

- Develop promotional and branding materials for the new indoor facility and grand opening

- Organize and promote fundraising campaigns

- Assist with sponsorship packages, donor recognition, and community sponsorship outreach

- Plan and coordinate tournaments, social events, member activities, and community events

- Support membership recruitment and retention initiatives

- Promote youth, adult, and competitive tennis programming

- Develop outreach initiatives involving schools and community organizations

- Work alongside the Facility Manager, Tennis Director, Board members,



and volunteers on marketing and community initiatives

- Assist with project documentation and NOHFC-related reporting

Qualifications

- Is a recent graduate or current student in Marketing, Communications, Business, Recreation, or a related field

- Has experience with social media and digital marketing

- Has strong written and verbal communication skills

- Is highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines

- Is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively

- Has an interest in sports and community engagement

- Has experience with event organization and/or fundraising initiatives

- Experience with Canva or Adobe, nonprofit/community marketing, sponsorship outreach, volunteer coordination, tennis or racquet sports, and marketing analytics would be considered an asset

What We Offer

This position provides an opportunity to gain meaningful experience during an key period of growth for the Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre. The successful candidate will receive hands‑on experience in marketing, fundraising, sponsorship development, event management, and community programming while helping launch a major new recreational facility in Thunder Bay.

Compensation & Benefits

- Pay: From $22.00 per hour
