Our Vision The Canadian Mental Health Association provides mental health education and mental illness recovery-focused programs and services for people of all ages and their families. We work collaboratively to develop realistic community awareness of homelessness and provide housing opportunities for clients. CMHA Kamloops creates awareness, provides education, and supports individuals and families living with mental health or substance use concerns.

Our programs are community-based, they include supportive and independent living, homelessness services, and peer support. By working closely with other community agencies, we are working to bridge gaps in mental health care and facilitate access to critical services and resources.

Extended Medical and Dental Benefits The Role

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director and Senior Management team, the Manager of Shelter Assessment and Triage (MOA&T;) will be responsible for client triaging, assist with client case management evaluation, collaboration with providers and other shelters and provision of quality community care in compliance with contractual, local and federal regulations that meet accreditation standards.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Merit Place, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients





Triage clients with high-risk needs including medical or other severe health issues to appropriate support.

Coordinate with other CMHA programs (i.e. shelter, housing, outreach etc.) to ensure a continuum of care and seamless service delivery

Communicate job expectations and responsibilities, while supervising, disciplining, managing and overseeing employees and work systems.

Hiring, training, motivating and coaching employees as they provide attentive, effective service to clients and residents, assessing employee performance and providing helpful feedback and training opportunities.

Maintain ongoing relationships with other stakeholders and housing/shelter providers, acting as a liaison between clients and other parties as needed

Assist in the development and management of the program’s budget, ensuring efficient use of resources

After-Hours Support (as needed):

Following six months of successful program stabilization, participate in the rotating afterhours on-call schedule to support program (s) continuity and respond to urgent or crisis situations.

Key Skills and Experience Required

Related Degree or Diploma in Human Service or related field or a combination of education, training and experience;

A minimum of 3 years of experience in shelter management, housing management, and/or client services, including case management and advocacy. Experience within the community is a plus.

2 years management/supervisory experience, senior management experience preferred.

A valid Driver’s license;

Vehicle and Vehicle Business Insurance with 5 million liability

Valid First Aid and CPR;

Mental Health First Aid an asset.
