About the Role:

Employment: Full-Time

Location: Surrey, BC, Canada

Linus Media Group is looking for a Manager, Talent & Culture to own and run our HR function day-to-day.

This role is responsible for bringing clarity, consistency, and good judgment to how we manage people across the business. You’ll lead our HR operations, support and guide managers through people decisions, and ensure our processes actually work in practice.

You’ll work closely with the COO to apply and execute the people strategy, in partnership with the Sr. Talent & Culture Partner. This role is both hands-on and thoughtful; you're comfortable getting into the details while building trusted relationships and providing practical, balanced guidance when it matters.

This role manages one HR team member and reports to the COO.

As a Manager, Talent & Culture, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Duties:

HR Leadership & Day-to-Day Ownership

- Own and run the HR function day-to-day, providing operational leadership and support to managers across the business
- Provide practical, experience-based guidance to managers on performance, team issues, and people decisions
- Escalate and align with the COO on higher-risk or company-wide decisions

Team Leadership
- Set clear expectations, performance standards, and accountability for execution
- Directly manage and support a Senior People Talent & Culture Partner
- Provide guidance, feedback, and development to strengthen their capability over time
- Ensure strong follow-through and reliability across HR processes

Employee Relations & Performance Management
- Provide guidance on routine employee relations matters, including performance issues, conflict, and workplace concerns
- Lead complex or high-risk employee relations matters while supporting the Sr. Talent & Culture Partner on day-to-day issues
- Support managers in preparing for and navigating difficult conversations




- Ensure a consistent approach to performance management across teams

Recruiting & Hiring
- Partner with managers to ensure hiring decisions are structured, consistent, and progress efficiently
- Ensure roles are clearly defined, hiring plans are aligned, and timelines are realistic

HR Operations & Systems
- Oversee HR operations through the Sr. Talent & Culture Partner, ensuring HR systems, records, and processes are accurate, compliant, and consistently executed
- Build and maintain simple, effective processes that reduce confusion and rework
- Partner with Payroll and Finance to ensure smooth and accurate payroll inputs and workflows

Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes and implement practical solutions that increase consistency and efficiency
- Help create a more consistent and predictable employee experience across the company

What Success Looks Like:

- HR runs smoothly without constant escalation
- Managers receive clear, consistent guidance on people decisions
- Employee issues are handled early and effectively
- Recruiting is structured and predictable
- HR processes are simple, clear, and followed
- The HR team operates with strong ownership and follow-through

Job Requirements:

- 7–10+ years of progressive HR experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- Strong experience in employee relations, performance management, and recruiting
- Ability to prioritize, simplify, and make sound decisions in a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment
- Experience supporting and guiding managers in a fast-moving environment
- Experience leading or mentoring HR team members
- Solid understanding of BC employment standards and HR practices
- Comfortable balancing hands-on work with broader perspective
- Clear, thoughtful, and collaborative communication style, with the confidence to have difficult conversations when needed




- Payroll and benefits administration experience is an asset

Compensation: For this position, the typical hiring salary base range falls between $90,000 and $120,000 CAD per year, based on market location and job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills and experience. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus and additional benefits, which together make up the total compensation package, in line with our company’s philosophy to recognize and reward employee contributions.
