Master Craftsman's Protégé

Tired of fixing the same problems over and over? Ready to learn from someone who's seen it all?

We're not looking for another parts-swapper who follows repair manuals like recipes. We want someone who gets curious when something breaks, who wants to understand the why behind every failure, and who has the potential to eventually lead others. All repairs stem from fundamental principles that you understand and repeat.

This isn't about following repair manuals or punching a time clock. This is about learning from someone who has seen every problem, solved every puzzle, and built a reputation; one perfect repair at a time over 40+ years. You'll be working alongside a mentor who believes in passing down not just technical knowledge, but the artistry and intuition that separates true craftsmen from ordinary mechanics.

But here's what makes this different: We're looking for someone who won't be content to stay a student forever. We want someone with the hunger to eventually lead, to become the next master craftsman who will one day mentor the next generation.

What You'll Actually Do (The Real Work, Not the Job Posting Fluff)

You'll become a protégé to a master craftsman who still gets excited about solving impossible problems, while taking ownership of increasingly complex work that builds toward eventual leadership.

Your Arena:

Detective & Problem Solver: When a boat owner says "it just doesn't run right," you'll learn to hear what they're really saying. You'll develop the instincts to know whether that rough idle is carbon buildup, a timing issue, or something more subtle that only comes from years of listening to engines breathe.

Master of Multiple Crafts: One day you're rebuilding a marine engine, the next you're diagnosing electrical gremlins on a side-by-side, then fabricating a custom mounting bracket that solves a problem the parts catalog never anticipated. You'll become fluent in hydraulics, electronics, metallurgy, and the black magic of making old things work like new.

Quality Guardian & Reputation Builder: Every repair carries your signature. You'll learn to build a reputation where customers specifically ask for your work, where other shops call you for advice, and where your name means something in this industry.

Teacher & Future Leader: As you grow, you'll start sharing knowledge with newer techs, apprentices, and even seasoned mechanics who want to learn your specialty. You'll discover that teaching others makes you better at your own craft while preparing you for eventual leadership.

Business Understanding: You'll learn not just how to fix things,

but how to communicate with customers, make repair decisions that build long-term relationships, and understand the economics behind quality work.

The Progression Path (What Your Future Looks Like)

Year 1: The Foundation Builder You'll work directly under our master craftsman, handling increasingly complex repairs while learning the subtleties that separate good from great. You'll absorb not just techniques, but the thinking patterns that create master-level diagnostics.

Year 2-3: The Emerging Specialist You'll take ownership of specific product lines or complex projects, with mentorship available but decisions increasingly yours to make. You'll begin mentoring others and taking responsibility for customer relationships.

Year 4+: The Leader & Future Master You'll run your own area of the operation, make strategic decisions, and begin training the next protégé. Eventually, you'll be the master craftsman that others seek out for the impossible problems.

The Real Deal

This isn't a typical mechanic job where you fix the same problems every day until you retire. You'll be learning skills that take decades to master, working on equipment most shops won't touch, and building toward becoming the kind of craftsman that others seek out.

Some days will push every skill you have. You'll face problems that don't have obvious solutions, customers with complex needs, and equipment that seems determined to humble you. Other days, you'll solve something elegant and beautiful, teach someone else a breakthrough concept, or deliver work so clean it looks factory-fresh.

We're looking for someone who wants to become a true master craftsman – someone who gets excited about the journey of learning, growing, and eventually leading others.

If the idea of learning from a master craftsman and eventually becoming one yourself makes you lean forward instead of back away, let's talk.

Intercity Powersports & Auto Service – Where we've been taking the plunge into the unknown since 1996, turning challenges into expertise and building craftsmen who become leaders.

The Bottom Line

This is your chance to learn from someone who has spent four decades perfecting his craft, who still gets excited about impossible problems, and who's looking for the right person to carry on a tradition of excellence.

You won't just be fixing things – you'll be learning to think, to diagnose, to lead, and to create solutions that don't exist in any manual. You'll develop skills and leadership abilities that will serve you for life, whether that's eventually running your own operation, becoming our next master craftsman, or taking your expertise anywhere in the industry.

We're not interested in resume collectors or job hoppers. We want someone who sees this as the prospect of a lifetime and is prepared to make the most of it – someone who understands that true mastery includes the ability to lead and develop others.
