About RFL Wealth
At RFL Wealth Management, we help professionals build a Rich, Fulfilling Life™ through high touch financial planning, relationship-driven guidance, and long-term strategic thinking. We are not a traditional wealth firm. We are building a modern, quick-growing advisory company focused on exceptional client experience, meaningful relationships, and long-term impact. Our environment is entrepreneurial, fast-paced, collaborative, and growth-oriented.
We are growing rapidly and are looking for a Marketing Director who can turn strategy into disciplined, measurable execution and build a high-performing marketing function that operates with increasing independence.
This is not a traditional channel-lead or task-management role. We are looking for an entrepreneurial marketing leader who combines strategic thinking, creative judgment, commercial awareness and operational discipline.
You will initially work closely with the CMO to understand RFL's business, audience, brand, strategic priorities and quality standards. Over your first six months, you will progressively assume ownership of the marketing function, including team leadership, execution, performance management and departmental operations.
The Chance
As Marketing Director, you will lead the marketing function across brand, growth, content, lifecycle/CRM, digital, web, events and marketing operations.
You will translate the CMO's vision into clear priorities, accountable plans and measurable outcomes while creating the systems, processes and standards needed for the team to execute effectively.
What You'll Own
- Translate annual marketing strategy into quarterly plans, campaigns, budgets, priorities and measurable scorecards.
- Lead the marketing team across brand, content and lifecycle, digital/web, events and marketing operations.
- Establish transparent ownership, priorities, deadlines, quality standards and escalation processes across marketing initiatives.
- Run the department's operating rhythm, including weekly team meetings, project reviews, performance reporting and decision-making.
- Review and improve marketing work before it reaches the CMO, ensuring strong brand quality and reducing unnecessary executive-level involvement.
- Build an evidence-informed marketing approach focused on meaningful commercial outcomes rather than vanity metrics.
- Connect marketing activity to qualified demand, meeting attendance, lead progression, client acquisition and revenue contribution.
- Evaluate campaigns, partnerships, events and other opportunities and recommend what to pursue, improve, defer or stop.
- Leverage AI, automation, technology, agencies and external talent to improve the quality, efficiency and speed of marketing execution.
- Coach and develop team members, establish accountability and address performance issues when required.
- Build and continuously improve RFL's Marketing Operating System, including processes, decision rights, quality standards, reporting, scorecards and institutional knowledge.
- Represent marketing performance, priorities and recommendations clearly to the CMO and broader leadership team.
What Success Looks Like:
- The CMO is no longer required to manage, track or chase routine marketing activities.
- The marketing team understands what it owns, what success looks like and when to escalate.
- Marketing priorities are clearly connected to business objectives and commercial outcomes.
- Routine decisions are made confidently at the Director level within agreed strategic guardrails.
- Marketing projects move forward without depending on daily executive intervention.
- RFL's brand becomes increasingly distinctive, consistent and commercially effective.
- The marketing function operates with clear accountability, robust execution and measurable performance.
Your First Six Months
Month 1 – Learn
Immerse yourself in the business, audience, brand, team and active marketing initiatives. Conduct a current-state assessment and identify opportunities for improvement.
Month 2 – Co-Pilot
Begin coordinating priorities, improving project visibility, preparing recommendations and helping establish stronger execution processes.
Month 3 – Lead Selectively
Lead marketing meetings and selected initiatives while partnering with the CMO on the annual plan, budget and performance scorecard.
Months 4–5 – Own
Take ownership of day-to-day team leadership, execution, quality control, routine decision-making, performance follow-up and departmental reporting.
Month 6 – Stabilize
Operate independently, eliminate remaining day-to-day dependencies on the CMO and demonstrate a sustainable, high-performing marketing function.
What We're Looking For
Entrepreneurial Ownership
- You identify problems, develop solutions, mobilize resources and close loops without needing to be chased.
Strategic & Commercial Thinking
- You can distinguish between an exciting idea and a meaningful opportunity, and between marketing activity and genuine business impact.
AI-Enabled Resourcefulness
- You use AI and modern technology as everyday tools for research, analysis, content development, journey mapping, automation, documentation and problem-solving—while applying sound judgment and validating accuracy.
Creative & Brand Judgment
- You recognize work that feels generic or incomplete and know how to elevate it into something distinctive, premium, coherent and effective.
Operational Discipline
- You know how to prioritize, document, execute, follow through and maintain high standards consistently.
People Leadership
- You provide clear feedback, develop talent, protect specialist expertise and create accountability without unnecessary bureaucracy.
Constructive Courage
- You are comfortable challenging assumptions, including those of senior leadership, and can respectfully present an alternative point of view backed by sound reasoning.
Comfort With Ambiguity
- You can bring structure to evolving ideas and incomplete information without waiting for a perfect playbook.
Experience & Capabilities
- 7–12 years of relevant marketing experience is typical, although breadth, judgment and demonstrated impact matter more than tenure or pedigree.
- Proven experience building, transforming or scaling a marketing function - not simply managing one channel. Experience working in a start-up is an asset.
- Broad experience across several areas including brand, growth, content, lifecycle/CRM, digital/web, events,
partnerships and marketing operations.
- Experience leading employees and external partners while establishing clear standards and accountability.
- Demonstrated success improving commercial outcomes, marketing systems or team effectiveness.
- Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
- Strong analytical judgment and the ability to make sound decisions even when data is imperfect.
- Comfortable operating in a high-trust, regulated environment. Experience in financial services, healthcare or professional services is an asset but not required.
What This Role Is Not
- A narrow channel-lead position.
- A project-management role with a marketing title.
- A maintenance role for someone waiting for fully formed instructions.
- A purely creative, brand, performance-marketing or communications role.
- An environment where ownership is limited by rigid job-description boundaries.
