About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in HVAC system design, implementation, and optimization. The ideal candidate will work closely with architects, civil/structural engineers, contractors, and project managers to design energy-efficient HVAC systems, oversee installations, and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, attention to detail, and a passion for sustainable engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and other building projects.
- Perform heating and cooling load calculations and equipment sizing.
- Prepare mechanical drawings, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines.
- Review designs and provide technical recommendations for system optimization and energy efficiency.
- Provide technical support during HVAC installation and implementation.
- Review shop drawings, equipment selections,



and contractor submissions.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify compliance with approved designs.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
- Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and project teams.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- P.Eng. designation in Ontario is an asset.
- Robust experience in HVAC design and building mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of applicable Ontario Building Code requirements and HVAC standards.
- Experience with HVAC load calculations, equipment selection, and system optimization.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and relevant mechanical design software.
- Strong understanding of energy-efficient and sustainable HVAC solutions.
- Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate engineering and architectural drawings.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with architects, engineers, contractors, and project managers is an asset.
