Responsibilities

Position Summary

- Specimen accessioning including referred out specimen packing, result data entry – Preliminary Unverified, when required
- Inventory control including assessment, receiving,



storage and supply management in all areas
- Core and minor equipment maintenance including CS5100, Aptio, Auwi and more.
- POCT support including, but not limited to, running QC, comparability’s, calibrations, maintenance and technical support on various equipment
- Assist Technologists with general duties within the scope of a Laboratory Assistant III including, but not limited to, reagent preparation, set up of minor tests, bone marrow processing, blood product inventory and preparation of kits
- General housekeeping including daily, weekly and monthly laboratory tasks in all areas
- Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends, and stat holidays
- Other duties may include computer entry, answering telephone and other tasks within the scope of a Laboratory Assistant III.

Qualifications

- Graduate of Laboratory Assistant course, preferably with certification by the OSMT
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Laboratory setting

- Biochemistry Micro-Creditable for MLA, an asset
- High level of organizational and time management skill; and excellent written and verbal observational and communication skills
- Ability to meet all physical requirements of the job including, but not limited to, lifting heavy reagents and supplies, etc.




- Demonstrated effective documentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a quick paced environment.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required.
