Edmonton Respiratory Consultants, in collaboration with Northern Lung Function, is seeking an organized and professional Medical Office Assistant to join our team.

This role supports our respirologists by coordinating referrals, appointments, pulmonary function testing, diagnostic information, and communication between patients, referring physicians, and healthcare providers.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a busy referral workload in a specialist medical environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Receive, review, and process incoming respirology referrals
- Ensure referrals and required medical documentation are complete
- Communicate with referring clinics regarding missing information, testing, or reports
- Enter and maintain accurate patient and referral information inAccuro EMR
- Schedule consultations, follow-up appointments, and physician appointments
- Coordinate pulmonary function testing with Northern Lung Function
- Request and track medical records, imaging, lab results, PFT reports, and other investigations
- Contact patients regarding appointments, instructions, and required testing
- Maintain physician schedules and follow up on outstanding referrals or investigations
- Process medical correspondence and consultation documentation
- Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records




- Provide general administrative support to the respirologist and clinic team

Qualifications

- Medical Office Assistant certificate or equivalent medical office experience
- Previous experience in a medical clinic, specialist practice, or referral coordination role preferred
- Accuro EMR experience is an asset
- Experience in respirology, pulmonary medicine, internal medicine, or another specialist practice is an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong organizational, communication, computer, and data-entry skills
- Ability to manage multiple referrals, appointments, and priorities efficiently
- Professional and compassionate communication with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and follow through on outstanding items
- Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and privacy

The Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone dependable, proactive, and detail-oriented who takes ownership of their work. You are comfortable following up on incomplete referrals, tracking outstanding reports or testing, communicating with physician offices, and ensuring the respirologist has the information needed to provide timely patient care.

Strong communication and coordination skills are essential, as this role works closely with both Edmonton Respiratory Consultants and Northern Lung Function.

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
