The Role:
We are seeking a hands-on, highly skilled carpenter who is just as comfortable swinging a sledgehammer during demo day as they are executing highly technical finish carpentry. You will be a key representative of the company on the job site, ensuring work is done to our high standards, sub-trades are collaborated with effectively, and clients are kept happy. Our project scopes vary greatly, you must be adaptable and ready to handle everything from a quick two-hour repair or installation to a full-house gut, design, and top-to-bottom renovation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Construction: Execute all phases of residential renovations, including demolition, framing, flooring,
finish carpentry, and trim. Handle exterior projects such as decks, fences, and concrete work.
- Site Execution & Leadership: Drive day-to-day progress on the job site, problem-solve unconventional situations, and improvise solutions to keep projects on track. Step up to lead projects and guide others when required.
- Sub-Trade Collaboration: Work effectively alongside plumbers, electricians, and other specialized sub-trades to ensure seamless project progression.
- Client Relations: Act as a reliable on-site point of contact for clients. Maintain a presentable, professional, and communicative demeanor at all times.
- Logistics & Materials: Pick up and transport materials to job sites as needed. Handle a wide variety of building materials safely and efficiently.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all work meets our high standards of meticulous detail, adheres to local building codes, and incorporates proper design and appliance integration.
- Tech & Admin: Utilize company software, including Jobber and Google Suite (Sheets, Keep, Docs), for project tracking, timesheets, and daily notes.
- Site Maintenance: Ensure a safe, highly organized, and clean work environment at all times, regardless of space constraints or working conditions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: Extensive background in all types of construction, specifically high-end residential renovations (kitchens, bathrooms,
interior/exterior remodels).
- Broad Knowledge Base: Strong understanding of technical carpentry, basic plumbing, basic electrical, and current building codes.
- Physical Capability: Ability to independently lift and maneuver heavy materials, including full sheets of 3/4” plywood or 4’x8’ drywall. Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including tight/small spaces, indoors, and outdoors.
- Transportation: Must possess a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and your own reliable vehicle capable of hauling construction materials to job sites across the Greater Victoria area.
- Tool Proficiency: Highly familiar with all power and hand tools common on a residential job site.
- Soft Skills: A positive, growth-oriented attitude. Willing to learn, solve problems independently, and guide others around you while demonstrating strong communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Having your own comprehensive set of tools is highly preferred (though not strictly required).
- Current First Aid / CPR certification or specific WorkSafeBC training.
