Position Summary

As a Mutual Funds Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive mutual funds advice and investment solutions to our members. This position is designed to have an 80% focus on promoting and selling mutual funds, with the remaining 20% dedicated to offering holistic financial guidance.

Position Responsibilities

- Conduct thorough financial assessments with members to understand their goals, risk tolerance, and investment objectives.
- Analyze members' financial situations and provide tailored recommendations, emphasizing mutual funds as a key investment vehicle.
- Proactively promote and sell mutual funds to members, addressing their unique financial needs and aligning investment strategies with credit union offerings.
- Monitor and manage members' investment portfolios, adjusting as necessary to align with changing market conditions and individual goals.
- Provide ongoing performance reviews and communicate updates to members on their investment portfolios.
- Stay informed about the latest market trends, fund performances, and regulatory changes to make informed recommendations.
- Educate members on the benefits and risks of mutual funds, ensuring they have a clear understanding of their investment choices.
- Adhere to all regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements related to the sale and management of mutual funds.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of member interactions, transactions, and compliance-related activities.
- Identify opportunities to cross-sell other credit union products and services that align with members' financial goals.




- Collaborate with other departments to provide seamless and holistic financial solutions.
- Meet and exceed sales targets for mutual funds, while maintaining a high level of member satisfaction.
- Regularly report on sales performance, member engagement, and market trends to management.
- Advanced knowledge of mutual funds, MFDA regulations, legal statutes and Credit Union operating policies.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable national and local regulations including FINTRAC, tax legislation, Provincial Securities Commission, MFDA and other industry publications.
- Maintain an advanced knowledge of the competitive workplace, basic and specialized products, and services, working knowledge of consumer credit thorough knowledge of latest trends in financial markets for both credit and investments.
- Maintain clear understanding of Pathwise Credit Union plan and the role of Mutual Funds Specialists’ contributions, actively lead revenue generation and sales-based activities, achieve the performance targets.
- Completes daily work in accordance with standard compliance, audit, policies, and procedures.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications Education & Experience
- Must hold a mutual funds license.




- As a minimum, a secondary school graduation diploma (or equivalent).
- Three years of credit union work experience preferred.
- Pathwise approved lending courses.

Knowledge, Skills & Capabilities
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, banking system and associated programs.
- Excellent communication skills, verbal & written, in order to manage demanding situations with tact and diplomacy; effective presentation skills are required.
- The ability to plan, prioritize and manage conflicting deadlines during peak periods and unexpected situations.
- Advanced knowledge of all Credit Union products and services.
- Knowledge of Credit Union policies, by-laws, and procedures.
- Requires creativity and innovation to deal with issues.
- Self-motivated, detail oriented, good problem-solving skills; passion for sales.
- Ability to evaluate complex information from a variety of sources to arrive at conclusions.
- Requires flexibility in order to adapt to modifications in duties and shifts in priorities, including retraining, reorganizing work or redesigning processes and procedures.
