QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge:

- Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required
- Dementia care, pharmacotherapy, falls/mobility, osteoporosis, delirium training required
- Medical clinical experience in an acute care setting required
- Certified in Medication Administration required with recent related experience required
- Experience with catheterization
- Experience with Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG)
- Basic computer knowledge required
- PIECES and Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset

Skills/Abilities:

- Excellent level of interpersonal skills required
- Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required
- Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
- Ability to work as a team-oriented member of the health team required
- Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision required
- Ability to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to medical patients required
- Demonstrated ability to engage in meaningful patient activity an asset
- Demonstrated ability in flexible care and patient centred approaches is an asset
- De-escalation techniques required
- Critical thinking, problem solving,



ability to delegate, multi task an asset
- Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
- Good attendance and work record required
- Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates.
