Help Us Build the Future of Long-Term Care at DRDH
Deep River &
- District Health (DRDH) is entering an exciting period of growth and transformation, and we are looking for an experienced and passionate Director of Care –
- Long-Term Care to help lead the way.
With construction of our new 96-bed Four Seasons Lodge Long-Term Care Home underway, this is a unique opportunity to be part of building something from the ground up. The Director of Care will be one of the key leaders responsible for preparing for the transition to the recent home, growing and developing our long-term care team, establishing strong clinical and operational practices, and ultimately helping bring our vision for a new generation of resident-centred care to life.
This is more than an opportunity to lead an established long-term care program. It is an opportunity to help shape what comes next.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Community and Long-Term Care, and working closely with the Administrator and organizational leadership team, the Director of Care provides clinical and operational leadership for long-term care services at Four Seasons Lodge.
The Director of Care is responsible for ensuring residents receive safe, high-quality and person-centred care while creating an environment where staff are supported, engaged and able to do their best work.
Over the coming year, the Director of Care will also play a central role in preparing Four Seasons Lodge for significant expansion. Working alongside leaders, staff, residents, families and partners, the successful candidate will help translate the plans for our new home into the people, processes, programs and culture required to successfully open and operate it.
The Director Of Care Will Have An Opportunity To
- Help stand up a new 96-bed long-term care home, contributing to operational readiness, transition planning and the development of clinical programs, processes and systems.
- Build and grow our long-term care team, supporting recruitment, onboarding, education, development and the creation of a strong and engaged workforce.
- Shape the resident experience,
ensuring our new home reflects person-centred care, resident choice, dignity, quality of life and meaningful connections with families and the community.
- Lead clinical excellence, providing oversight of nursing and resident care, infection prevention and control, quality improvement, risk management and resident safety.
- Create strong systems for care, establishing and continuously improving policies, practices, workflows and performance measures that support excellent care and effective operations.
- Champion our people and culture, providing visible, supportive leadership and fostering accountability, collaboration, learning and continuous improvement.
- Partner with residents and families, building trusted relationships and ensuring their perspectives help shape care and the ongoing development of the home.
- Ensure regulatory excellence, maintaining compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, associated regulations, professional standards, accreditation requirements and organizational policies.
- Contribute beyond long-term care, participating as a member of DRDH's Administrative Leadership Team and helping advance broader organizational priorities across our integrated health campus.
Who We Are Looking For We are looking for a nursing leader who is excited by both the responsibility of operating an excellent long-term care home and the opportunity to build for the future. The successful candidate will bring strong clinical judgment, operational leadership and knowledge of long-term care, together with the ability to lead people through growth and change. They will be comfortable moving between strategy and day-to-day operations—developing plans and systems while remaining visible and connected to residents, families and staff.
You are someone who builds relationships, develops people and creates clarity.
You see opportunities for improvement, are comfortable leading change, and understand that excellent resident care depends on an equally strong workplace culture.
Qualifications The successful candidate will have:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- A minimum of five years of recent leadership experience in a hospital and/or long-term care environment.
- Solid knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and other legislation, professional standards and regulatory requirements relevant to long-term care.
- Experience leading within a unionized environment and knowledge of collective agreements and labour relations.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and evaluating organizational or clinical change.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication and relationship-building skills.
- Demonstrated ability to engage employees and foster a supportive, accountable and high-performing workplace culture.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Experience with long-term care redevelopment, expansion, operational readiness, workforce growth or the opening of a new health care environment would be considered a strong asset. Why DRDH?
This is an exciting time to join DRDH.
Our health campus continues to grow, bringing together hospital care, long-term care, primary care and expanding community services to better meet the needs of the communities we serve. The new Four Seasons Lodge represents one of the most significant investments in the future of long-term care in our organization and community.
The Director of Care will have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution—not only to the successful opening of a new home, but to the culture, care model and resident experience that will define Four Seasons Lodge for years to come.
If you are a collaborative and forward-thinking nursing leader who wants the opportunity to build, lead and make a meaningful difference in the future of long-term care, we would love to hear from you.
