: As a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, the CMHN is accountable for the provision of screening, assessment, referral, case management, and treatment of individuals with serious and persistent mental illness. This includes persons who may be at risk of developing disability due to mental illness. The CMHN is accountable for the provision of education aimed at prevention and early intervention services to reduce incidence and disability due to mental illness.

Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Other Education and Training
- Workplace Assessment & Violence Education (WAVE)
- Psychiatric Nursing diploma is acceptable

- Bachelor of Nursing is acceptable

Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to design, initiate and conduct in service training for others.
- Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act
- Knowledge of Mental Health Approved Home Policy & Regulations
- Ability to conduct assessments/prioritize client needs/develop treatment plans
- Knowledge in psychiatric diagnoses, treatment, and medications
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Service's Act
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Knowledge of Ministry of Social Services policies, procedures, and regulations
