About Queensview Café

Queensview Café is a growing, community-focused café, catering, and event business known for fresh, high-quality food and reliable service.

We are looking for a reliable and flexible On-Call Assistant Cook & Catering Delivery Driver to join our team.

This position is ideal for someone looking for flexible, occasional work who is comfortable helping in the kitchen, making catering deliveries, and assisting with events when additional support is required.

This is not a guaranteed-hours position. Shifts are offered based on operational needs, staff absences, catering orders, deliveries, and special events.

When You May Be Called In

You may be scheduled to:

- Cover a shift when a regular kitchen employee is sick, absent, or unavailable
- Assist during busy café or catering production days
- Prepare and package catering orders
- Pick up or deliver food, catering orders, supplies, or equipment
- Complete catering drop-offs to offices, businesses, private events, or other locations
- Help load and unload catering orders
- Assist with setup and service at catering events
- Help with cleanup and breakdown following events
- Provide additional kitchen support when required

Shifts may occasionally be offered on short notice.

Duties Kitchen Support

- Assist with food preparation and cooking
- Follow recipes, portioning standards, and presentation guidelines
- Help prepare café and catering menu items
- Package and organize catering orders accurately
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Wash dishes, equipment, and work areas when required
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and health standards




- Assist the Cook/Chef and management as needed

Catering & Delivery
- Verify catering orders before leaving the café
- Safely transport food, beverages, supplies, and catering equipment
- Deliver orders accurately and on time
- Load and unload catering orders
- Communicate professionally with customers at delivery locations
- Assist with event setup, food presentation, service, and breakdown when required
- Represent Queensview Café professionally while making deliveries or attending events

Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of cooking, kitchen, restaurant, catering, or food-service experience preferred
- Valid driver's licence required
- Safe and responsible driving habits
- Comfortable driving within Ottawa and surrounding areas
- Ability to safely lift and carry catering boxes, food trays, and equipment
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable accepting occasional/on-call shifts
- Ability to work independently when making deliveries
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional and respectful communication
- English required; French is an asset

Food Handler Certification is preferred. Access to a reliable vehicle is required

Cuisine Experience





Experience with any of the following is considered an asset:

- Canadian cuisine
- European cuisine
- Latin cuisine
- Caribbean cuisine

You do not need experience in all of these cuisines.

Availability

This is an on-call/casual position, and hours will vary depending on business needs.

Availability may be required for:

- Weekdays & daytime shifts
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Catering deliveries
- Special events
- Short-notice staff replacement

There are no guaranteed weekly hours. This role is best suited for someone who has flexibility and is interested in picking up additional shifts when available. What We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who is:

Experience Cooking / Kitchen / Food Service: 1 year preferred

Licence / Certification

Valid Driver's Licence: Required

Food Handler Certification: Preferred

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
