Gateway Tutoring Academy is a Vancouver based tutoring and academic mentorship company dedicated to helping students achieve their full academic potential.

We work with students through personalized one on one tutoring, academic mentorship, test preparation, and structured learning plans. Our approach goes beyond simply helping students complete homework. We focus on building strong academic foundations, confidence, critical thinking skills, independence, and long term academic success.

We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Online IB Math and Science Tutor to join our growing academic team.

Position Overview The Online IB Math and Science Tutor will provide individualized academic support to students enrolled in International Baccalaureate programs.

The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background in mathematics and science and be comfortable supporting students with challenging IB coursework, assignments, examinations, Internal Assessments, and overall course preparation.

Depending on the tutor's academic background and experience, subjects may include:

- IB Mathematics
- IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches
- IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation
- IB Chemistry
- IB Physics
- IB Biology
- General Science

Experience teaching both Standard Level and Higher Level IB courses is considered a strong asset.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver high quality online tutoring sessions tailored to each student's academic level, learning style, and goals.
- Help students strengthen their understanding of IB Mathematics and Science concepts.
- Support students with homework, assignments, quizzes, tests, and examination preparation.
- Identify gaps in foundational knowledge and develop strategies to address them.
- Prepare students for IB assessments and final examinations using appropriate practice questions and exam style material.
- Teach students effective problem solving, analytical thinking, and study strategies.
- Explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods when students are struggling.
- Review student progress regularly and adjust tutoring strategies when necessary.
- Provide clear and professional session notes following each tutoring session.
- Communicate important academic concerns or observations to Gateway Tutoring Academy's administrative team.
- Maintain accurate availability and scheduling information.




- Follow Gateway Tutoring Academy's academic standards, policies, procedures, and communication protocols.
- Build positive and professional relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Encourage students to become more confident and independent learners.

Qualifications

Applicants should ideally have

- A bachelor's degree or be actively completing a university degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Science, Education, or another closely related field.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics and at least one major science discipline.
- Previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or instructional experience.
- Strong understanding of high school Mathematics and Science.
- Experience with the International Baccalaureate curriculum is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting IB Standard Level or Higher Level students is an asset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understandable way.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Reliability, professionalism, and consistency.
- Ability to work independently in an online workplace.
- Comfortable using Zoom, Google Workspace, digital whiteboards, and other online educational tools.

Preferred Candidates

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

- Previous IB teaching or tutoring experience.
- Experience preparing students for IB examinations.
- Experience with IB Mathematics AA or AI.
- Experience teaching IB Chemistry, Physics, or Biology.
- Familiarity with IB Internal Assessments and assessment criteria.
- Experience working with academically ambitious students preparing for competitive university programs.
- A strong academic record in Mathematics or Science.

Schedule

This is an online tutoring position with sessions primarily taking place during afternoons, evenings, and weekends based on student availability.

Tutors should be able to maintain consistent weekly availability throughout the school year.

Additional hours may become available depending on student demand, tutor performance, subject expertise, and availability.

Gateway Tutoring Academy is looking for educators who are passionate about helping students succeed and who want to contribute positively to the academic and personal development of the students they support.

Pay: $24.80-$35.60 per hour
