They cover pipe with earth or other materials, cut pipes to required lengths and help align and position pipe for welding and sealing. They also dig trenches to the desired depths. This individual is responsible for carrying out assigned tasks/responsibilities efficiently and effectively. They will meet quality standards and production targets set by the organization. They will follow established procedures, guidelines, and best practices. It is significant that they maintain open and constructive communication with colleagues, supervisors, and other stakeholders. Finally, they will show punctuality and reliability in fulfilling work obligations.Duties and Responsibilities:Pipelayers lay pipe for storm sewers, sanitary sewers and watermainsInstall related structures such as manholes, catch basins, valves, and hydrants and assist with tie-ins to existing systemsMaintain a clean, organized work areaSignals equipment operators to ensure a safe and proper excavation around underground utilitiesEstablish alignment and grade with the use of a pipe laserResponsible for proper bedding, spring-line and cover lift thickness and compactionOperate mechanized equipment such as diesel plate packer,



quick cut saw, jumping jack compactor, and a variety of other hand toolsStrong understanding of proper dewatering measures in trenchesExperience working with various types of shoring boxesStrong understanding of the various soil types and the sloping requirementsStrong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environmentExperience with hoisting and rigging for pipes and shoring boxesResponsible for the setup and safe execution of utility supports for underground utilitiesRequirements:2-3 years of experience as a Pipelayeraccess to reliable vehicleCavanagh Employee Benefits:Family, people-centric cultureSafe and healthy workplace, promoting well beingInternal growth opportunitiesTraining and development opportunitiesBenefit, Wellness and Pension ProgramsWage Range:The hourly range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $32.00 and $40.00 per hour.
