Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Ophthalmic Technician / Medical Office Assistant (MOA) specializing in ophthalmology to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care, medical office procedures, and ophthalmic practices. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality eye care services by supporting clinical operations, managing patient interactions, and ensuring smooth front desk functions.
The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing compassionate patient support.
Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists during patient examinations by preparing necessary equipment and ensuring patient comfort.
- Perform preliminary eye tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and dilation procedures.
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR) systems efficiently, including documentation of patient histories, test results, and treatment plans using platforms like Accuro.
- Greet patients at the front desk, schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and handle patient check-in/check-out processes.
- Provide exceptional patient care by addressing questions, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to safety and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless clinic operations and uphold high standards of patient service.
Requirements
- Perfect fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting, with a minimum of one year’s experience working in an ophthalmology or optometry office.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as Accuro and ConnectCare.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye health and general healthcare practices.
- Excellent patient care skills combined with skilled communication abilities.
- Experience handling front desk responsibilities including scheduling, insurance verification, and administrative support.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
