Mik Cafe
Greater Toronto Area
Etobicoke, ON | Part-Time | 15–20 hours/week
Mik Café is looking for a part-time barista to join our small team.
We’re an independent neighbourhood café in Etobicoke built around consistently great coffee, delicious pastries and food, a beautiful space, and genuine connection with the people we serve. Mik means friend in Albanian, and that idea is a big part of how we run our café.
We’re looking for someone who is naturally warm, outgoing and comfortable talking to people . Someone who notices the regular walking through the door, remembers their order, has a quick conversation or joke while working, and genuinely cares about giving people a great experience.
Coffee experience is an asset, but personality and attitude matter just as much to us. We can teach recipes and improve bar skills. Great hospitality is much harder to teach.
What you'll do
- Handcraft espresso drinks, matcha and other café beverages consistently
- Assist with basic food preparation and ingredient prep
- Serve and prepare pastries and baked goods
- Follow proper food-handling, storage, labeling and sanitation procedures
- Provide friendly, personal service and build relationships with our regulars
- Keep the café, coffee bar, food-prep areas, tables and customer areas exceptionally clean
- Restock and keep your work areas organized
- Help teammates wherever needed — at Mik, if you see it, you own it
- Maintain our quality and service standards even during busy periods
You might be a great fit if you
- Are outgoing and genuinely enjoy talking to people
- Have solid customer-service instincts
- Are reliable, punctual and responsible
- Can work efficiently without making customers feel rushed
- Notice when something needs cleaning, restocking or fixing without always being asked
- Care about the quality and presentation of what you serve
- Are comfortable handling and preparing food
- Work well independently and as part of a small team
- Take feedback well and want to learn
- Have previous café, barista or food-service experience — preferred, but we're willing to train the right person
- Have a valid Food Handler Certificate or are willing to obtain one
What we offer
- 15–20 hours per week
- Competitive hourly pay based on experience( >$19/hr)
- 100% of your tips
- Barista and café training
- Scheduling flexibility where possible
- A small, supportive team where you're listened to
- The opportunity to grow with Mik as we grow
A few important things about working at Mik Mik is self-service, but our hospitality is personal.
We care about the details. Drinks should be made properly. Food should be prepared with care. The café should be exceptionally clean. Customers should be acknowledged and treated warmly, whether we're quiet or there's a lineup.
Our philosophy is simple
Serve people the way you would like to be served.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
- To apply: Send us your résumé along with a short note introducing yourself, your availability, and why you think you'd be a good fit for Mik Café.
