ESL Instructor (Part- Time), West Point Grey United Church — Vancouver, BC

West Point Grey United Church is seeking a part-time ESL Instructor to lead beginner English language classes for newcomers and community members.

Position Details

- Position: Part-Time ESL Instructor
- Location: West Point Grey United Church, 4595 West Tolmie Street, Vancouver, BC
- Schedule: Part-time (2 hours) on Fridays 9:30-11:30
- Start Date: September 18th, 2026 with term breaks
- Compensation: $30/hour

Responsibilities The ESL Instructor will:

- Plan and deliver engaging, learner-centred English language lessons.
- Develop activities that support speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.
- Incorporate practical, everyday English and Canadian cultural contexts into lessons where appropriate.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive encouragement and feedback.
- Communicate effectively with church staff, volunteers, and program participants.
- Contribute to an inclusive community environment that welcomes people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and faiths.

Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate will have:

- Relevant ESL/EAL teaching certification, training, or education.
- A warm, patient,



and encouraging approach to teaching.
- Experience working with learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- The ability to create engaging and accessible lessons for students with varying levels of English proficiency.
- Ability to speak Mandarin is an asset, though not essential.

Experience working with newcomers, refugees, or immigrant communities is an asset. What We Offer
