Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Handyman / Maintenance Worker to join our vibrant retirement home community. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and comfort of our residents by performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks. Your proactive approach and technical expertise will help create a welcoming environment where residents feel secure and cared for.

Responsibilities

- Perform general handyman and maintenance work
- Repair or replace faucets, sinks, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures
- Replace light bulbs, lamps, switches, and other basic electrical items
- Patch and paint walls and ceilings
- Repair doors, handles, locks, cabinets, and other fixtures
- Assemble and install furniture and equipment
- Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance
- Identify maintenance issues and report larger problems when professional contractors are required
- Keep maintenance areas clean and organized




- Respond to maintenance requests from management and staff
- Follow all safety procedures, especially when working in areas occupied by residents

Experience
- Previous experience as a handyman, maintenance worker, building maintenance worker, or similar role
- Good knowledge of basic plumbing, painting, carpentry, and general repairs
- Able to work independently and solve problems
- Reliable, responsible, and punctual
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working in a retirement-home environment
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with senior residents
- Must be able to safely lift and carry tools and equipment
