ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a reliable, organized, and hands-on Music Rehearsal Studio Assistant to support the day-to-day operation of our rehearsal studios.
The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in music and practical experience with musical instruments, PA systems, audio equipment and live sound setup. Previous experience in a music store, rehearsal studio, recording studio, music school, live music venue, or similar setting is strongly preferred.
This is not an audio engineering position. We are looking for someone who understands the basics, can confidently set up and troubleshoot common equipment, perform minor fixes, and knows when an issue requires professional assistance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Studio Operations & Customer Service
· Open and close the studio as required.
· Prepare rehearsal rooms and equipment for clients and ensure rooms are ready between bookings.
· Welcome clients, musicians, and guests and provide friendly, professional service.
· Assist clients with basic questions about the studio, equipment, and procedures.
· Ensure clients follow studio policies and use equipment appropriately.
· Keep rehearsal rooms, common areas, and equipment storage clean, organized, and presentable.
· Monitor the condition of instruments, equipment, and facilities and report damage or issues to the Studio Manager.
· Communicate scheduling, operational, or customer concerns to the Studio Manager.
· Follow established studio procedures and help maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Music Equipment & Basic Technical Support
· Set up and operate basic PA systems, including mixers, microphones, speakers, and amplifiers.
· Connect and troubleshoot common audio equipment, cables, microphones, and instruments.
· Perform minor equipment adjustments and basic fixes where appropriate.
· Assist with basic amplifier setup and troubleshooting.
· Tune and set up acoustic drum kits, including drums, cymbals, and stands.
· Assist musicians with basic equipment-related questions.
· Maintain and organize cables, stands, microphones, adapters, and other accessories.
· Ensure all equipment is properly handled, stored, and maintained and accounted for at the end of the day.
· Identify issues that require professional repair and escalate them appropriately.
Inventory & Maintenance
· Monitor studio supplies and consumables.
· Assist with inventory checks and identify items requiring replacement or replenishment.
· Help coordinate minor maintenance and equipment repairs.
· Keep equipment and storage areas organized.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Required:
· Previous experience in a customer-facing or operational environment.
· Genuine interest in music and familiarity with musical instruments.
· Practical knowledge of basic audio equipment and PA systems.
· Ability to set up and troubleshoot common music equipment.
· Ability to tune an acoustic drum kit preferred
· Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
· Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently.
· Professional and approachable when interacting with customers and musicians.
· Ability to safely lift and move studio equipment when required.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
You may be a former music-store employee, musician, studio employee, or someone with hands-on experience with musical equipment.
You should be practical, dependable,
and comfortable figuring out basic equipment problems. You take initiative, pay attention to your surroundings, treat equipment with care, and know when to resolve an issue yourself and when to escalate it.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$18–$20/hour, depending on experience
· 2 hours of complimentary studio time for every 10 hours worked, valued at $30/hour, for personal music projects and subject to studio availability and studio policies.
· Flexible part-time scheduling.
· Evening and weekend work available/required based on studio needs.

HOURS
This is a part-time position. Hours will be scheduled according to studio operating requirements and candidate availability.
Evening and weekend availability is required.
