The Partner, People & Culture works with leaders across Union Gospel Mission to provide practical HR guidance, strengthen teams and develop effective talent acquisition strategies that attract and retain qualified candidates.
This is a temporary, full-time (37.5 hours) position beginning immediately upon hire and ending in September 2027. The starting range for this position is $36.96 to $40.74.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with directors, managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers/supervisors in a designated client group, providing direction, guidance, and support on all HR functions, including: employee relations issues; staffing; hours of work and overtime; performance planning and management; leave management; staff training and development; employee engagement/retention; and organizational effectiveness.
- Provide coaching and instruction to directors, managers/supervisors on the consistent application of UGM’s policies and practices, and industry standards for Human Resources practices, as well as the development of a constructive management style that supports UGM’s values.
- By understanding their branches’ priorities, partner with managers/supervisors to help them think strategically in all areas that involve their staff. This includes assessing the impacts of their decisions on the organization; identifying the risks of any/all courses of action; and identifying how they can align with organizational goals more effectively.
- Partner with departmental leaders to align recruitment efforts ensuring a strong and sustainable pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Develop and implement effective talent acquisition strategies to attract, assess, and retain qualified talent across designated client groups.
- Contribute to the development and execution of employer branding initiatives that strengthen UGM’s ability to attract and engage high-quality candidates.
- Collaborate with hiring managers to develop comprehensive job descriptions, competency profiles, and recruitment criteria that accurately reflect the requirements of each position.
- Provide strategic recruitment advice to leaders, including guidance on sourcing strategies, candidate experience, selection processes, and internal and external talent markets.
- Be the lead, or provide support for, specific HR-related areas. Examples include, but are not limited to, organize and track all centrally subsidized staff training; develop/maintain records management standards; develop and deliver/facilitate online and/or in-person training; participate in annual the policy review; participate in bi-annual the compensation review; supervise a co-op student; and participate in the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee.
- Coordinate assigned projects, which may involve obtaining input from colleagues and monitoring completion within specified timeframe.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and development opportunities.
- Adhere to all UGM published policies, practices and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Working Conditions:
- Work Location
Work is generally performed indoors within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
- Physical Requirements
Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing, walking or reaching for up to 10% of the time. Employee is required to look at a computer screen and use a keyboard for up to 90% of the time.

Working workplace is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate. Work is performed amid normal conditions of dust, odors, fumes, and noises.
