About the Role
Our projects are diverse and include geotechnical and civil engineering, QA/QC construction monitoring, drill monitoring, geo-environmental monitoring, site investigations, foundation inspections, and soil and concrete laboratory testing. Our work spans multiple industries, including open-pit mining environments and municipal infrastructure projects.
This position is a full-time, laboratory-based role located in our Fort McMurray lab , with the potential for occasional field work to support project and operational needs. Job Responsibilities
We are currently seeking individuals to perform geotechnical and materials laboratory testing. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting geotechnical laboratory testing on soils and aggregates, including proctors, sieve analysis, hydrometer testing, specific gravity, and Atterberg limits
- Performing compressive strength testing on concrete materials in accordance with applicable ASTM and CSA standards
- Entering laboratory sample information and generating worksheets using the LIMS system
- Inputting third-party laboratory results as required
- Submitting soil and concrete test results to the Quality Assurance Specialist
- Calibrating laboratory equipment (Proctor machines, sieves, ovens, scales, and molds) and completing preventative maintenance as required
- Working in a fast-paced environment while carrying out assignments with minimal supervision
Physical requirements include prolonged standing, repetitive movements, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Compensation
$27.00- $31.00 per hour , depending on experience.
What We Look For
We are seeking individuals with:
- A diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Environmental Sciences, Geotechnical Sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and laboratory experience
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- A valid driver's license
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- A willingness to learn and grow within a laboratory environment
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety
Additional Assets
- Knowledge of SpectraQest
Previous experience in a laboratory or technical testing environment
Working Conditions & Requirements
- Ability to successfully complete a Fit for Work assessment
- Ability to meet drug and alcohol testing requirements
- Comfortable working in safety-sensitive environments
