As our organization continues to grow, we are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to support accurate payroll processing and benefits administration across the organization.
Position Summary The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and benefits administration. This role maintains employee payroll and benefits records, performs reconciliations, supports statutory and year-end reporting, and responds to employee inquiries while working closely with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Process weekly payroll for hourly employees, including earnings, deductions, union dues, taxable benefits, bonuses, vacation pay, and adjustments
- Review and validate timesheets, attendance, new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and benefit deductions
- Prepare payroll remittances, statutory filings, journal entries, reconciliations, and management reports
- Reconcile payroll information between Dayforce and Epicor and investigate discrepancies
- Support year-end payroll activities, tax slips, annual reconciliations, audits, and benefit reporting
Benefits & Employee Support
- Manage employee benefit enrolments, changes, and terminations
- Maintain accurate benefit records and coordinate with benefit providers
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries professionally and promptly
- Protect confidential employee information in accordance with privacy and record-retention requirements
- Assist with reception coverage as required
Systems & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee and payroll information within Dayforce, Epicor, and related systems
- Ensure payroll activities comply with applicable Canadian legislation, employment standards, and company policies
- Identify payroll discrepancies and coordinate timely corrections
- Collaborate with Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and management to maintain accurate payroll information
Qualifications & Skills Education & Experience
- Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent payroll experience considered
- Minimum 2 years of payroll processing experience in a mid-sized to large organization
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification
- Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory deductions, taxable perks, and year-end reporting
Technical Skills
- Experience with payroll software, ERP/accounting systems, and Microsoft Excel
- Dayforce and Epicor experience preferred
- Strong payroll reconciliation and reporting capabilities
- Ability to investigate variances and maintain accurate payroll records

Working Conditions

- Hybrid work arrangement of three days onsite and two days remote
- Regular interaction with employees, Human Resources, Finance, Operations, and management
- Work involves recurring payroll deadlines and periods of increased workload during year-end and reporting cycles
