Role Description The Peer Tutor is a full-time, on-site role based in Resolute, NU. The person in this role will support peers by explaining concepts, guiding practice exercises, and helping improve understanding in relevant subject areas. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting scheduled tutoring sessions, preparing learning materials, offering constructive feedback, and encouraging effective study habits.

The Peer

Tutor will collaborate with team members and supervisors to track learner progress, identify areas for improvement, and maintain a supportive, inclusive learning environment.



Administrative tasks may include recording session notes, coordinating schedules, and communicating regularly with staff and peers.

Qualifications

- Strong subject-matter knowledge in the areas to be tutored and the ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and respectful collaboration with diverse learners.
- Organizational and time-management skills to plan sessions, manage multiple learners, and meet scheduled commitments.
- Basic instructional or mentoring skills, such as creating study guides, designing practice activities, and providing constructive feedback.
- Comfort working in office in a structured environment and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning culture.
- Completed or ongoing post-secondary education in a relevant field is an asset, along with prior tutoring, mentoring, or teaching experience.
- Professionalism, reliability, and a genuine interest in supporting the academic and personal growth of peers.
