About the Role

The Company is seeking a Deputy Chief of Training to join their Fire Management Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the leadership, development, implementation, and evaluation of all training and career development programs for fire department personnel. This includes recruit training, officer development, and various specialized training such as technical rescue and hazmat. The Deputy Chief of Training will ensure that all training activities comply with relevant legislation, NFPA standards, and departmental policies, while maintaining the competency and operational readiness of the firefighting team. The role also involves providing supervision and coordination to ensure consistent and effective training delivery, as well as participating in budget planning and resource management for the training division.





Applicants for the Deputy Chief of Training position at the company should have a minimum of 5 years' of leadership experience in fire and rescue services, with a strong preference for those with post-secondary education in emergency services management or fire administration. The role requires a range of certifications, including NFPA 1001, 1041, 1021, 1006, 1031, 1033, and various other specialized certifications. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of fire service legislation, standards, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act, as well as a Class DZ driver's license. Skills in instructional design, adult learning principles, and experience with fire department software are considered assets. The Deputy Chief of Training must be a strong leader, with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
