Working as a member of the inter-professional team for weekend & weekday coverage, the Physiotherapist will be responsible for providing assessment, consultation and education to the patient, family members and the interprofessional team within a variety of in-patient units. The successful candidate will actively be participating in regular team meetings, liaising with with unit level teams, community based providers, advocating on behalf of clients and their families and participation in inter-professional patient and family conferences as needed.
This role will primarily work cover acute care medicine or general surgery units on weekends. Weekday coverage opportunities will include coverage within inpatient acute care and complex continuing care. The Physiotherapist is scheduled for one Saturday and Sunday shift out of every 4 weekends. Where there is a statutory holiday, this holiday is included in as part of the long weekend.
Education
- M.Sc in Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
- Member in good standing with College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
- Additional certification/training in neurological Physiotherapy techniques preferred
Experience
- Registration and license to practice with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and in valuable standing
- Recent experience in acute care hospital-based orthopedics, medicine, stroke/neuro, and geriatric care preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work and function effectively as an interdisciplinary team member
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Motivated to practice in accordance with the mission and vision of hospital/health service
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development
