Make a difference in the lives of youth as a Full time Youth Worker with Covenant House. This on-site role involves supporting youth in transitional housing with a focus on life skills and crisis intervention.
Covenant House, serving at-risk youth in Toronto, seeks a passionate Youth Worker for a permanent position. You'll implement the organization's mission and philosophy to foster a nurturing environment. Your responsibilities include supporting youth through orientation and life skills development, requiring a trauma-informed approach and strong relationship-building skills.
Key Responsibilities: • Build supportive relationships with ROP participants • Facilitate life skill sessions and individual counseling • Conduct assessments and referrals to community resources • Manage crises and ensure participant safety • Coordinate shift responsibilities among staff
Requirements: • Degree in child and youth work or equivalent • Two years of experience in shelter programs • Excellent communication and computer skills • Knowledge of youth homelessness issues • Ability to engage youth in crisis situations
