Position Summary The Plumber is responsible for completing residential and commercial plumbing installation, renovation, repair, and service work safely, efficiently, and to a high standard of workmanship.
Working as part of the construction team, the Plumber interprets project requirements, installs and modifies plumbing systems and fixtures, identifies site conditions and potential issues, coordinates with other trades, and ensures work complies with applicable codes, project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and company quality standards.
The position requires strong technical ability, independent problem-solving, professional conduct in occupied homes and businesses, and effective communication with project managers, clients, suppliers, and other trades.
Key Responsibilities
Plumbing & Installation
· Install, modify, repair, and maintain water distribution, drainage, waste, venting, and related plumbing systems.
· Install and connect plumbing fixtures, faucets, sinks, toilets, tubs, showers, dishwashers, and other plumbing equipment.
· Complete plumbing rough-ins and finishing work for renovation and construction projects.
· Read and interpret drawings, specifications, manufacturer instructions, and project scopes.
· Measure, cut, assemble, install, and test piping and plumbing components.
· Identify existing plumbing conditions and determine appropriate methods for alterations and connections.
· Complete required testing and prepare work for inspection.
· Troubleshoot plumbing problems and complete repairs as required.
· Ensure completed installations are functional, code-compliant, and finished to company quality standards.
Renovation & Project Work
· Review assigned scope and project requirements before beginning work.
· Identify discrepancies, unforeseen conditions, access concerns, or scope issues and communicate them before proceeding with work outside the approved scope.
· Coordinate plumbing activities with project managers, carpenters, electricians, HVAC technicians, drywallers, tile setters, and other trades.
· Plan work to minimize unnecessary disruption, rework, and impact on project schedules.
· Protect existing finishes, furnishings, and client property during construction.
· Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout the project.
· Support accurate identification of additional work or changes discovered during construction.
Materials, Tools & Documentation
· Determine materials, fittings, fixtures, and equipment required for assigned work.
· Communicate material requirements in sufficient time to avoid project delays.
· Use company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials responsibly.
· Minimize material waste while maintaining required workmanship standards.
· Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, completed work, and other required project information.
· Document concealed work or site conditions when required.
· Report damaged, defective, or unsafe tools and equipment.
Quality & Client Service
· Complete work accurately, efficiently, and with attention to finished appearance.
· Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before considering work complete.
· Maintain professional conduct and communication while working in clients' homes, businesses, and occupied spaces.
· Communicate respectfully with clients while directing scope, pricing, schedule, or contractual questions to the Project Manager.
· Take reasonable steps to minimize noise, dust, water interruption, and disruption to occupants.
· Report property damage, client concerns, mistakes, deficiencies, or potential service issues immediately.
Safety & Compliance
· Perform work in accordance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety requirements, applicable plumbing and building codes, company policies, and protected work procedures.
· Participate in hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, safety meetings, and required training.
· Use required personal protective equipment.
· Maintain safe and orderly work areas.
· Identify and report hazards, incidents, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
· Follow procedures for working in confined or restricted spaces and other higher-risk environments where applicable.
· Exercise stop-work authority where an imminent danger exists.
· Ensure plumbing systems are safely isolated and controlled before work begins where required.
Qualifications
· Recognized Alberta Journeyperson Plumber certification or recognized equivalent is preferred for independent plumbing work.
· Apprentices may be considered where appropriate supervision and scope of work can be provided.
· Residential and commercial renovation experience is strongly preferred.
· Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, materials, installation methods, and applicable codes.
· Ability to read drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a multi-trade construction team.
· Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites.
· Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the trade.

Role Scope The Plumber is accountable for the quality, safety, efficiency, and code compliance of assigned plumbing work. The position is expected to exercise appropriate trade judgment within their level of certification and experience.
The Plumber does not independently authorize changes to client scope, pricing, project budgets, or schedules. Potential changes, unforeseen conditions, additional work, and client requests outside the approved scope must be communicated to the Project Manager for direction and authorization before proceeding.

Pay: $40.00-$50.00 per hour
